This is not my favie-fave, but we were just listening to it at my house, so:

"This is not my favie-fave, but.........."

Never in a time of peace, has patriotism been more fashionable, more unifying than in the months leading to the bicentennial in 1976. It was three years past the dark days of Watergate, and one year since the fall of Saigon and it looked like our institutions had responded public pressure by ending a war, ridding ourselves of a corrupt president and passing a series of legislative reform bills to protect the republic from the corrosive effects of malevolent power at the top. We were in the mood for a party and Independence day provided one hell of a Bash.

Boston had its turn, and amid 650,000 Americans lining the banks of the Charles River. An orchestra more used to playing symphonies to men in black suits and women in gowns and pearls, had one hell of an evening! I submit the work of Maestro Arthur Fiedler
