    RIP and all that.

Fred Willard, the prolific comic actor and master of the mockumentary genre who stood out in ensemble comedies like Best in Show, For Your Consideration and This Is Spinal Tap, died Friday at the age of 86.

Willard’s rep Glenn Schwartz confirmed his death to Rolling Stone, adding that the cause of death was natural causes. Old people keep dying. Droll Fred was always fun, appearing where he was least expected and laying down serious laughs with a straight face. Last week, my wife and I were watching a repeat of one of the 70's Show episodes and there was Fred playing the over the top father of one of the kids during a ridiculous father son competition of pseudo pioneering skills, when the character playing his frustrated son (because they are not winning and may lose the championship) outs dad for wear buttless chaps on Fridays nights when he rents a motel room. Without missing a beat Fred responds "Your mom is inhibited" as an excuse. All chaps are buttless.

No doubt, wherever he's gone, he's still delivering belly laughs. Known for his personal kindness in real life, a sad loss for family, friends and those who worked with him. A legacy that will help the living continue to laugh thru hard times. We celebrate your life Fred, and will miss one of the good guys.

Damn. First Jerry Stiller, now Fred Willard.

I'm not a fan of May 2020 so far.
Don't believe something just because you want to.

I always thought he was on WKRP albeit before my time. Didn't realize that was a different actor. I just see a clip from that show pop up around thanksgiving about them dropping turkeys out of a helicopter not knowing they wouldn't fly. Only other thing I could think of was one movie where he was a judge at a dog show or something like that.

I took notice of him at the Raymond show last year (I got the complete series dvd) - that I googled for him.
He did a good character and was funny in his own subdued way as the pastor.
