Anybody else getting into this? I’ve really been enjoying it. For the record, though, the show’s title is apt: while the Star Trek universe is very much a backdrop of the show, a backdrop it is. The show is called “Picard,” and it’s about Picard.
That’s not to say that there isn’t spacefaring adventuring, because of course there is,* but this isn’t standard Star Trek fare. This is smarter, more human and cleverer than anything you may be used to from the franchise, but it’s definitely more stoic than what you may be used to. Which is appropriate because the inherent nature of Jean Luc Picard is, if nothing else, stoic.
*If the show was Jean Luc Picard reading poetry in a retirement home, it wouldn’t have gotten past the test audience phase.
