Gifted 7-year-old dubbed the preschool Picasso shakes up the art world

Dubbed the “preschool Picasso” by German media, Akar’s paintings now sell for thousands of euros (dollars) to buyers from across the world.

“At just seven years old, he is established in the art world. There is interest from Germany, France and the USA,” his father and manager, Kerem Akar, said.

Akar senior discovered Mikail’s precocious talent by chance several years ago, when he gifted his son a canvas and some handprint paints for his fourth birthday.
“We had already bought him enough cars and action figures, so we had the idea of getting him a canvas,” Kerem Akar said.

This young kids work is extremely impressive. His parents need to put him in some sort of academy where his talents can be harnessed and molded. Talents like this don't come very often. It would be a waste for his parents to allow him to explore other options. His son has a talent. Do not let it be for nothing!

If he's that good then maybe he doesn't need an instructor. An instructor could have the opposite effect and ruin what made his art notable in the first place. But without seeing the boy's work it would be difficult to say.

That looks like crap any kid his age paints. Throwing paint onto a canvas like that doesn't require talent.

:lamo The art of dribbling paint. That style is way over half a century old - going back to the 1960s

As P T Barnum said: "There's a sucker born every minute."

It looks like exactly what you would think a 7 year old would be capable of. Absolute ****.

This reminds me of the "genius" kid who dismantled a clock and put in a box to look like a bomb.

Just another kid being exploited by a parent for financial gain.

"A former salesman and recruitment agent, the 38-year-old has since switched to managing Mikail full time.

He has founded his own agency, and helped to establish his son as a successful brand."

Every few years another child prodigy is touted. A few pan out, but most burn out as they mature or are proved to be parental frauds. Michael Jackson, Ron Howard and Drew Barrymore were such children, as were Mozart and Liszt. Genius always has a toll. I'm glad my children were within the norm (whatever that means) and content for the same with most of my grandchildren. The two that have had exceptional musical talents from an early age have been tough to keep grounded, but the effort to do so has led to mainstream early adulthood on a social level. It is a harsh world, especially for those who are different.

Wondering which direction an art school would try to take that skill set.

Maybe an interior design school would be a better fit.

Do you think it will hurt the rich people to pay him pennies?

You want to harness and mold talent?

Yes, this young kid has a lot of talent and his parents need to squeeze that talent out of him. Just like if you were to squeeze a lemon when making lemonade. This kid has an incredible gift. Extract it.

The balance and tonality of his work is technically good - exceedingly so for his age. The style is derivative, sure, but his own style will emerge with experience and learning.

All modern art is crap.

Bet you can't even define modern art. Matisse? Picasso? Turner? Hodgkin?

I find it hilarious people pay money for this type of "art" that all of us can easily do.
