Here is one. This has a spoken intro. Many others have musical intros. What we are looking for is an intro that keeps you sticking around to hear the song.

We saw Dire Straits @ the GW Smith Center in 75-76. They began with “Down To the Waterline.” They dragged out the beginning for a maddening long time, pitch black stage.

The entire first album was decent, “Wild West End, Water of Life, etc.”

This was (he is dead now) one of my favorite guitar players. I used to see him play locally quite often when I lived in MD.

Unknown in the US, Status Quo Kicked off most gigs with this song. In fact Rick Parfitt the rhythm guitarist opened most of their songs.
