Where have you seen a concert (rock, jazz, classical, doesn't matter) that made you want to go back just because it as such an awesome place to see a show?

I'll drop a few I have seen shows at -

Best views -

- The Gorge in central Washington State. It overlooks the Columbia river and the views alone make it worth the trip
- Red Rocks outside of Denver. Great scenery and great acoustics.

Best R&R -

- Tanglewood - Stockton Mass. It's not exactly an arena and you likely won't find 40' stacks of Marshall amps and pyrotechnics but if you want to hang out on the lawn, spread a blanket and enjoy a little picnic with your jazz or classical it's definitely a great place to go

Best memories -

- Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. It's a really nice amphitheater surrounded by trees and adjacent to Saratoga Spa State Park. There is camping, hot springs, and geysers plus it's in an absolutely gorgeous section of the Hudson Valley. The place gets top performers from across musical genera.

Indoor -

- Mud Bugs in Tucson, AZ. The place isn't there any more and to call it "great" would be a serious overstatement but it was a college bar that brought in a steady stream of college bands and the audience was 100% in on the action. Seeing the Beat Farmers there was one of those rare "Holy ****! This is what it's supposed to be all about!" moments.

Indoors- the Commodore Ballroom on Granville Street in Vancouver. Great sound, large but intimate, and never very far from a bar.

As a musician any place with a legit green room. First time I was like “sofas, big screen TV, private shower AND free beer!” I thought I died and gone to heaven.

As a patron The Paramount in Huntington NY. Its a nice venue but the real attraction is that we can take cab there - it’s only a couple miles from home - have dinner in any one of a dozen nice restaurants within a couple block walk, see the show and be home before 11. Beats the pants out of schlepping into NYC.
