Im impressed. For a TV series it sure has good production values.

Yeah...I'll watch that.

Is it just me, or was anyone else’s thoughts on seeing stormtrooper helmets pierced by sticks to marvel again at how useless their armor is?

I await the reviews...

Hopefully we can finally have the first half decent live action production since 1983.

Wouldn’t that be a thing.

Would be interesting if Jon Favreau saves and starts an amazing small screen star wars cinematic universe. Just like how he started the MCU w/Iron Man.

I thought Rogue One was decent enough. My favorite Disney SW movie to date. I enjoyed Solo, too, despite not liking a few weird scenes (like when Han got his name). So was the Force Awakens, but it wasn't exactly original.

The Last Jedi.....yeesh.

The Last Jedi.....yeesh.

At first I was alright with the force awakens.

But ultimately the movies are hollow, they’re as shallow as a puddle for me.

Rogue One had promise but ultimately the characters didn’t hit the mark, they didn’t really have much going for them and some of the dialogue was so cringe... “rebellions are built on hope”

Last Jedi was special though, in being just pure unadulterated trash.

Solo again, pretty hollow, not much really going on.

And in all these movies, can you honestly point to one moment that you can remember that matches up to some of the best moments of the original trilogy.

Things like:

The first appearance of Vader.
Now Eisley Cantina.
Death of Ben Kenobi.
Death Star Trench Rub.
Hoth Battle.
Yodas training.
Luke vs Vader 1
End of empire with hopeful view of galaxy
Luke’s reappearance in Return as Jedi badass
Yadda yadda yadda

Some scenes try to capture the visuals... but the emotional impact is absent.

There is speculation and the evidence is interesting that Rise of the Skywalker is gonna try to retcon everything and it’s gonna go full Avengers Endgame and do a time travel in an attempt to fix what Last Jedi broke.

I could see that happening man and I don’t think it’ll go well.

Looking forward to it. Between this, the Cassian Andor (from rogue one) series they announced is starting filming next year, and the various announced Marvel stuff (Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, etc.), I'm definitely subscribing to Disney+, no questions.

Yeah, Favreau is pretty dependable. I used to think he was just a two bit actor, but he seems to be a pretty good director.

I agree.

I am not a fan of Star Wars. I am a fan of Star Trek.

Unfortunately Star Treks not much better these days, this was a stark showcase of that fact.

im TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY all the way.

Everything else doesn’t interest me and I don’t have high hopes for Picard.

A couple years ago the wife and I decided to revisit TNG on Netflix, making a point of skipping every episode that was Barkley-esque or "Troi's mom is visiting"-esque. This got us through 5/6ths of the seasons painlessly.

Trois mom... Yeah never had a liking for those episodes.

Interesting to note though, person who plays Trois mom, Majel Barret, was married to Roddenberry and the voice of the Starship Computer in TNG, DS9 and VOY.

Yup, I knew that.

There were about a dozen genuinely good episodes that will stand the test of time, with The Inner Light being in the top three in probably everybody's list.

Holy **** what a final episode. Can really see that the writer/producer is a massive Star Wars fan. Can not wait for the next season.

I liked Discovery alot and am hoping good things for Picard.

I loved the occasional variety of Trois' mom.

And I knew her history with Gene all the way back to TOS.

Binge watched everything and just finished. So the bad guy is a Sith Lord or something? Hmm, he has a black lightsaber too which is cool- I used a mod playing KOTOR 2 to create a black lightsaber so it would be the color I'd use if I was a Jedi/Sith.

Lol no. He has the Darksaber, a legendary Mandalorian lightsaber that the only Mandalorian Jedi created over 1000 years ago. The owner (if a Mandalorian) would lead the Mandalorian people. Basically the saber is the crown jewels of Mandalore. There is a whole arc story about in Star Wars Rebels.

Since Gideon was a high ranking officer during the purge of Mandalore, then it makes sense that someone got thier hands on the Darksaber as it was in th possession of the Mandalorian leader.

My wife and I saw the final episode this weekend. We absolutely loved this series, and cannot wait for the next season.

I loved how this show made reference to so much of the Expanded Universe lore. And as an aside, I love how they showed just how dangerous the IG droid units are in combat. I am rather bummed though:

I wish Taika Waititi's IG-11 had survived to go on continued adventures with Din Djarin. He was really growing on me.
