Anyone here watch this? Russel Crowe was excellent as Roger Ailes.

Didn't see the Showtime production, but the book of the same name by Gabriel Sherman was a fascinating and well researched & supported read!

I thought the writing was a little simplistic. But Crowe was good

No. Naturally, I am not a big fan of left-wing propaganda pieces about right-wing propaganda.

I agree it was terrific!

You could tell by his acting just how much of the conservative message was all what Roger Ailes made up in his head. Then I'm reminded of this quote, "If Donald Trump didn't exist, Roger Ailes would have created him."
The last episode where he was sick and dying was horrifying. He was getting crazier and crazier. Kinda like what Trump is going through now.

But he's a leftist! -- Roger Ailes.

This was the story of why Ailes was fired. Nothing phony about it. I commend Gretchen Carlson for getting rid of this letcherous old man from Fox.

Here's a counter-opinion on this. Some of us believe we are just seeing/learning more of Trump's "real-self".

(CNN) What Anthony Scaramucci gets dead wrong in his turn against Donald Trump

Well you have to be simplistic when dealing with what Roger Ailes' penis looks and tastes like.

I know but his politics were more complex than stated. He was a jerk in every way but he was not a stupid man

I am not saying that it was false, Carleen. Do not mistake "phony" for "propaganda." Propaganda can be (and often is) true, or have elements of truth within it. The best propaganda often is mostly true. By all accounts, Roger Ailes was a vile man on a personal level. But the film is still pushing a very particular point of view which is distinctly left-wing in nature. In much the same way as you may recognize a distinctly right-wing film studio doing a biopic of Harvey Weinstein or Jeffrey Epstein pushes a right-wing narrative of rich and powerful liberal progressives who, in their personal lives, are pure evil. I feel no particular need to imbibe it at this juncture.

How righteous of you.

I watched the entire series and thought the exaggerated account was fantastic but only because of the performance by Russell Crowe.

That said, I truly believe Ailes got what was coming to him.

I think they got across just how much control he had in the media and in politics just fine. After watching The Loudest voice you come to the conclusion that he was a jerk, a controlling narcissist, and a sexual abuser but he changed Television forever.

Not at all, Carleen. I am just not a member of the congregation that this particular sermon was composed for. This was chum meant for the "Look at how evil Fox News is at every level, and how pig-ignorant their viewers must be!" crowd. Meanwhile, I am part of the "Look how biased and intellectually dishonest the left-wing Democratic mouthpiece media is and how sheep-like their viewership are!" crowd.

Though I am not a big fan of propagandistic biopics in general, whether told from a right-wing or left-wing slant. Except Patton with George C. Scott. That's a good one.

What makes you so sure it was an accurate portrayal?

If you know anything about what brought Ailes down you would not be asking that question.

And if you knew anything about the the prevalent media bias you would understand my pause.

So the media reports what Carlson and many other women said about what Ailes did to them and that is bias? Really?

I know that series paints an unflattering view of him. I dont know if its accurate or not and given the lefts track record i see no reason to assume that it is.

He assaulted women and threatened them if they spoke out and you think he is a good man? Really?

I think the left disdains foxnews and its creator and are not above taking artist license to portray the guy in the worst possible to light to justiy their hatred of someone that dared to go against the progressive othodoxy.
