(Not Punk although that hardcore ain't half bad either.)

Breakbeat Hardcore was a genre of electronic dance music emerging out of the UK in the early 90's. Although Hardcore itself was born in Europe I think.. Britain imported Hardcore and added some Reggae basslines and Breakbeat Hardcore was born.

It's one of those things like most musical genres where there is an amalgamation of influences happening concurrently that it's hard to tell what's what. You could refer to hardcore records as anything from '91-'95 and be referring to very different sounding music.

Hardcore really changed a lot during those years.

Anyway the coveted Ibiza/3rd Party label is being repressed. The demand is there and they are selling out quickly. I've always wanted Can You Feel The Rush on wax, but was leery of the price tag. Most Noise Factory original pressings are north of $50 a piece and I can't afford that luxury. However, the represses are usually between 7 and 8 pounds and that is doable.

So, after bills I spent the tiny bit of money I had on a Can You Feel The Rush repress. Should be arriving in September.

I also bought the Slipmatt remix of the absolute storming dance floor smasher In Effect.

In Effect was such a large tune it was one of those tunes that just swept through the clubs like an F5. The originals are too expensive but, the Slipmatt remix you can get for under a tenner.

How to make someone feel very old. I have an expedit shelf back in England that is filled with records from this era.

'88-'93 or so is my favorite era of dance music.

hardcore? That the stuff where the singers just about uniformly growl, unlike metal where some sing in a really high pitch instead of growling?

I recall Rolling Stone running some article about an old hardcore band "Cro Mags" putting out a new album. They had a song free to stream, so I started it. I liked it right up until when the singer started contributing. I need good vocals.

Alice in Chains, Tool, especially early Soundgarden, etc. Very aggressive, loud/angry, sludgey music. Alternately, I don't mind high-pitched as long as it has that "**** you" attitude built in, like Axl.

I don't listen to any new hardcore these days but will still listen to bands I used to listen to back in the day.

VOD, Snapcase, Madball, Sick of it All to name a few

First show I saw of them was just like this (I wonder if this was the show I went to), the stage was full of people, it was madness. I actually got to sing into the mike once, some guy lifted me up to crowd surf and ended up by the mic and he pointed it at me to sing
