Best concerts and worst concerts you attended

Ya know, it's been so long ago, I can't remember...all I remember about that concert is Roth jumpin' around on stage with some kinda huge blow up toy, a big rocket or somethin' another...they made a great impression on me, can ya tell?:2razz:

When I saw them Penn and Teller opened and got booed off stage.

I felt bad for them I was enjoying the sbow, but it seemed the crowd would have preferred some nobody back up band...

Great that you were able to see Alice C.
I didn't know that story.
Let me tell you that when I saw Janis Joplin I was only 18 years old. My bf, at the time, a few years older than me, took me to The Cheetah to see her.
She was wild... drinking southern comfort in between sets. Looking back, I realized she liked girls because she kept staring at me. I swear to God... I was staring at her because I couldn't believe my eyes and ears... She was that good.

My link above doesn't seem to work. Try this:

ETA: Don't have the Cheetah poster, but I do have their album, Cheap Thrills, and it is in pretty good condition.

Yeah I would guess she went both ways.

Many people never understood why I wasted so much of my life going to concerts, but it's brief moments like that that will flash before your eyes on your death bed...

The blow up thing reminded me of someone else I saw in concert while in Vegas...
Elton John

He loved his blow ups.
I also saw Cher in Vegas.

ETA: another great I forgot I saw live was Chaka Kahn when she was with the band Rufus.
Saw her when I met my husband to be... I can't believe I forgot this.
She was playing at a small club in Aurora, IL; June, 1970.

Chaka Khan - Wikipedia

Speaking of blow ups, iron maidens Eddie, and Pink Floyds (actually Rodger Waters) flying pig were iconic...

The one and only time I saw VH in concert, it WAS some nobody back up band as the opener, and I cannot remember who they were to save my life but I remember the lead guitarist was trying in vain to top or outdo Eddie's trademark sound on almost every song. He was trying way too hard and failing miserably, and the audience knew it.
They knew it so well that the set was shortened and they were apparently prematurely hustled off the stage.

That might be why VH wanted to try a magic act instead. I suspect every budding guitarist used to want to try to blow Eddie Van Halen off the stage. One of my best friends can actually come pretty close and Eddie has heard him play before, and he was impressed.

If you want, skip forward to 1:03 in this clip to hear Rick Webber do "Stormbringer" - an original composition.

Best concert ever, Old And in The Way

I had never heard bluegrass music previous and the show just blew me away.

Worst concert ever. None

For a while I felt like I was being punished for something, then I remembered I had beer in the car and the doors on the stadium were.not locked...

Sorry but you never saw quiet riot...

WOW and i about i had seen a lot of shows...

Ain't it great to have family members who are rock stars? :D
I have a cousin who is the front man for an Allman Brothers Tribute band who enjoy the distinction of actually having the endorsement of Gregg Allman himself, and his son is a rock star in his own right as well, plus he's an engineer and producer.

Here's "My Blue Sky" featuring my cousin John Gallagher:

That's actually a MBS original, not Allman Bros material.

Here's Teenage Wrist featuring Marshall Gallagher, he's the one wearing headphones in the clip.
And yes, Dad DID name him for Marshall amplifiers, LOL. The kid knows and thinks it's awesome.

Yes, it is!

Thanks for the very interesting family story and their music! Really enjoyed both.

Also for bringing back great memories.

Allman Brothers are one of many in my vinyl album collection.

One of my favorite Allman Brothers songs SoulshineYouTube

Roseann:)

After Leon and I had our first fateful meeting aboard his hippie bus back in 1988, I was surprised to discover that we were never to have to pay to get into a Leon show again for the rest of our lives.
It was so strange, he wasn't thrilled about the 1972 show I was going to release, but I guess he respected that I was doing it for the right reasons despite the fact that he got took by a con man for the concert tour.

So, of course every time he came to town, the wife and I were on the list for comp tickets.
I swear, for such a shy and quiet guy, he certainly had a big heart.
