What is your worst and best concert experience?
Allman Brothers - before Duane and Berry's tragic accidents. a huge fan since
T Rex - wore out their Electric Warrior album and 8-track
knew this was going to be something great
left the show early, no longer being able to stomach their "performance". nothing like this was heard:
special mention:
the august jam with over 300,000 of my closest friends, hearing The Allman Brothers Band, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Foghat, Black Oak Arkansas, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils and more (the Eagles failed to show) while enjoying some of the best orange barrel acid i'd ever experienced. ELP had a quadraphonic speaker system in the "corners" of the charlotte speedway; the music swirled to the point i could not stand up from becoming dizzy listening to it ... well, that and the LSD
weirdest act combination:
Michael Jackson opened for ZZ Top
dumbest 13 year old's decision ever: the Beatles and the Ventures were going to be the first non-martial acts acts to appear at the Budokan in tokyo, site of the '64 olympics. parents said i could only attend one show. guess which one i chose
List of concerts: I'm not picky. I loved them all. However, I could have done without seeing Melanie and Neil Diamond. (Just not a fan, and went to these concerts on a date)
The groups that have asterisks are bands that were at local dances in or near a community where I grew up; Park Forest, IL. (a southern suburb of Chicago) Lucky me to have seen these groups at such a young age and for free.

When you saw the 84 show, did Penn and Teller open for them?
I bow to your incredible experience getting to see Janis, I have seen a lot of greats but I have .missed a lot, many of them by premature death.
Her and Alice Cooper and pig pen (original keyboard player for tbe greatful dead) were all drinking buddies.
Alice is the only one who lived and the only one I've seen. He is supposed to be touring again this summer...
Ya know, it's been so long ago, I can't remember...all I remember about that concert is Roth jumpin' around on stage with some kinda huge blow up toy, a big rocket or somethin' another...they made a great impression on me, can ya tell?:2razz:
ETA: Don't have the Cheetah poster, but I do have their album, Cheap Thrills, and it is in pretty good condition.
Went to multiple ~*~ A Violet Sun ~*~ concerts.

Too many bests: Yes, Rush, Floyd...top the list.
Worst: Sammy and Van Halen.
I have never had the pleasure/displeasure to see Van Halen with or without Sammy, but I do have to admit that 5150 is an album I thoroughly enjoyed.
I would have loved to see Rush or Floyd. I am not a fan so to speak of Rush, but their exit stage left is among my CD collection as it was a great album, but I do admit I LOVE Floyd. My hands down favourite number is Comfortably Numb (one of many favourites but that song is just extra special).

Too many "best" to pick just one but my "worst" concert experience is actually a story so sad it makes me almost blubber to think about it.
I had seen BB King many times in the 1970's and 80's. I even attended one or two that made it on record, so I guess my cheering is in there somewhere.
The last time we saw him though, it was a pretty pathetic scene to witness and I felt anger toward his family, who are mostly the ones who handle him.
BB King had been very very ill for a long time, and it was painful to watch him barely make it to his chair on the stage, but then it got worse. He couldn't remember words to songs and couldn't manage to play for more than a few seconds, one or two riffs here and there, and the band would struggle to keep up or paper over his errors and sour notes.
He spent about 85% of the time just cracking jokes or telling stories, then he'd hit a couple of little riffs, bellow out something and the band would do a grand windup as if they'd just closed out an epic jam, and then he'd repeat the process again, talk about the next song, and on and on in an agonizing display of advanced dementia.
The poor guy clearly could not handle the requirements of a performer anymore, and he was straining to just do what he was doing. The family was beating him like a rented mule, knowing that his fans would pay to see him do just about anything.
At this point he was just their milk cow and they had to squeeze the last drops and keep the gravy train going as long as possible.
It was still a thrill to just see BB but it damn near put me in tears because that sad old man should have been able to just sit back and enjoy his emeritus years. It was pretty obvious to me that "the thrill was gone".
Some stars are misused and carted out to make money for people that have no talent or no morality. If someone is happy and able to perform and loves it fine, but if one is too "out" of it to make a good performance, people should protect them or make sure people have the image of the great performer, rather than let him perform and tarnish their reputation.
