Most influential political songs

Like his Father ...BRILLIANT...................steve

I was forged in conservative Rockford IL by conservative parents.....the Hippies were despised as two shades less evil than the Devil there was almost nothing good that could be said about them and the farther away they were the better.......but we could spin Alice's Restaurant....it had that much reach.

The other songs in this thread are too weak...

It's interesting how a question worded to reflect an historical political perspective became a typical a masturbatory celebration. Speaks volumes about the American ideal of self above all. No Strasuss's marching songs, no German war songs, no Yankee Doodle Dandy or When Johnny come Marching Home. No anthems, no laments for wasted lives, just songs about me.

So glad you over came your childhood and start in life Hawkeye, could you tell your parents that they should not have Feared as some of the Hippies later "Turned Right"and are Doyens of Business Today and some even voted for Trump...LOL

Hawkeye,I'm going a bit off centre here but living in Australia/Paradise...I remember a song called Grooving?by the Rascals? do you know it,if you do put it on here for me if you can

ps I remember a song by the Cowslips ??about flowers and I though they were a Deep Flower Power Hippy Band!!!!!!Only to find out years later it was a Mum and her 3 sons and a cute daughter...well my mates took the Piss Out of Me for months after...just thought of another WAR by Edwin Starr...Brilliant....steve

This is a song I am guessing no one has heard of, but it is arguably one of the most political songs of the 60s

That Billy Jack movie played a big role in laying the foundations for my long term philosophies. Damn good film. I want to say that I was 11 or 12 years old when it came out. I'd have to look the release-year up to be sure.

These are dead nuts on with regard to current events

To add: the film was released in ‘71. I saw it with a friend at the cheap theater. So, I would guess 1972 or early ‘73, which has me at roughly age 10. My take, and how it shaped my life:

There are the rich and despicable who can hire muscle and protection from the law. There are those who are easily bought and some who are not. There are kumbaya people who get walked on. And, there is Billy Jack: incorruptible, loner dude who takes no **** from anyone: not even a dozen anyones.

TL;DNR: be like Billy Jack.
