My copy of Ziggy Stardust has a note on the back cover that says "Play at maximum volume". That wasn't exactly unusual in the late 60's and early 70's so pull out your vinyl, crank up the Harman/Kardon, blow out the Bose 901s and let us know what albums (not tracks, full albums) need the power treatment.
Granted, Ziggy Stardust is what prompted this thread but the first album that came to mind was Chicago's intro, CTA -
