Han Solo

I really enjoy them. They are a good time watching them w/ friends and GF. And I love Star Wars to death, so I'm never gonna miss one in theaters if I can help it.

With friends and gluten free what? Pizza?

One of the weaker Star Wars films since The Force Awakens. No surprises and totally predictable.

It also really doesnt end- there's plenty of lose plotlines that hasnt been resolved.

The only thing I didnt expect was Darth Maul's cameo.

I saw it this weekend and I disagree. I thought it was fairly decent. I probably put it 3rd of the new all of the new movies that have come after the original 3.

I was thinking I might go see this one as it seems to be light on the WOMEN ARE WONDERFUL political messaging but now I dont know.

Maybe I will see it in a recliner stoned.

Maybe not.

I really liked that the Solo movie establishes conclusively that Han Shot First in the original Star Wars.

I'm holding out hope Rian Johnson's trilogy will be better than TLJ.

After seeing the latest Avengers, I am holding out hope they fire him and Kennedy to hire some of the Marvel crew to bring some excitement back to the Star Wars Universe. Infinity Wars was one of the best movies I have seen in awhile, Thanos was probably the best villain in a movie since Darth Vader. The last few Star Wars they make the Empire out to be a bunch of bumbling idiots which ruins any sense of struggle for the "heros" in the film. I will say the development of Kylo in TLJ was one of the few things they did well in that movie.

@ Yelm Theater 2:00 showing Screen 1....the Big One....good sound system but not the very best, good enough we will call it.....recliners with free refills on soda and popcorn which is nice.

Review: Does Not Suck: The best of the three Disney Star Wars I have seen (1, 2 and this one).....#METOO done very well, Solo actor is fine....story is somewhat weak but man I have sure seen a lot worse lately.

Someone should give Ron Howard another gold star, he did good.

I just a few days ago watched this Solo actor and as well the new Laura Croft Tomb Raider chick in Tulip Fever on Netflix. The movie lost a ton of money and is very unliked by reviewers but I liked it a lot. I suspect that the bad reception is due in large part because they have extensive nudity of a young female, which has been becoming increasingly a No NO NOOOO for years. Plus this is a Weinstein product. Anyways, he was fine in this as well.

I saw it on a 70 foot screen with dual 4K projectors (the dual projectors are for adequate brightness since the image is spread over such a large screen). If you ever get a chance to see 4K on a really large screen, I strongly recommend it. 4K looks really good on a giant screen.

But make sure it's actually a 4K movie. Seeing a 2K movie through a 4K projector will only result in 2K resolution, which is not so good on a giant screen.

And even when a movie is available in 4K, only the 2D version is 4K. 3D versions are always 2K.

High dynamic range like Dolby Cinema or Laser IMAX would be better yet. I've never seen it myself (no such theaters close to me), but I've heard rave reviews about it. Where normal projectors will just show darkness where there is a shadow, high dynamic range projectors will show a wealth of details within that shadow. They also make really bright things (like the green beam firing from the death star) much brighter and more intense.

What percent of the movie going audience do you figure notices or cares about the quality of the picture or the sound? I do, but I think I am rather rare. Even I find increasingly that I am willing to trade some cinema quality for recliners and free refills on soda and popcorn (with lots of shakers of stuff to put on the popcorn) and as well a pricing strategy that discourages kids. Uptown Lounge onsite helps me along, the food is not bad and there is nothing like seeing Star Wars with a bit of a buzz helped along by a couple of beers before I go in.

You know I have to say, I enjoyed the movie.

It wasn't anything as prolific as when the first Star Wars came out but that was in a different place and time altogether. The bar is really up there these days.

But it gave myself an opportunity to hang out most of the day with two of my son's, grill out, go to a very nice Marcus theatre with leather recliners and sound system that beats the band.

The movie could have sucked and I would have still enjoyed my time. But, it didn't suck.

I think it is clear now that it did not do so well because of the audience being pissed about how their beloved franchise which is supposed to be escapism and supposed to have nothing to do with all the crap we see as America breaks down was made by Disney to be a political platform, with crap story telling.

I was all set to avoid this one like I have avoided all Disney Star Wars since #2, but when this one seemed to be relatively unpolluted with politics and because Ron Howard made it I went.

I am glad I did, on indica flower, a little infused chocolate dark, and two beers.

On the biggest best sound screen Yelm Theater has, just barely OK.

Probably a low percentage. There are only 20 Laser IMAX theaters in North America. The rest of the IMAXs are LieMax installations that smear a low-resolution 2K image over a giant screen. Yet most people think that going to the nearest IMAX will get them the best possible picture.

But the ignorance of the masses will not prevent me from enjoying an exquisite 4K image on a 70 foot screen. And maybe if I post about it, others will learn too.

No drinks for me during a movie. I don't want to find myself with a full bladder mid-movie. In fact, I don't drink any liquids for about five hours before going to a movie.

And no popcorn. That would just make me thirsty. Instead I buy a few boxes of those super sour candies that make your mouth water, and that combats my thirst. And then after the movie I make a long stop at the water fountain.

When I traveled to see Solo on that 4K/70 foot screen (about 50 miles away) I stopped at an A&W Restaurant on the way home and got a large root beer float. I expect I will keep doing this every time I go to that theater.

Extreme thirst + hot day + A&W root beer float = wonderful.

Well GD! SIR!

I am impressed with your devotion to quality, there seem to be few of us left.

A quality Root Beer Float is damn near the best that the American Dream has to offer!
