When I was eleven, in my first "band," myself on sax, my friend Davy on Sousaphone, and my friend Steve on stand up bass (he had to stand on a chair to play it), we were murdering "Embraceable You" after utterly destroying "Sentimental Journey." Our three fathers walked into Steve's bedroom where we were assaulting any human or other species' ears within listening distance, and offered us each $10 to give it up. A princely sum in those days. We took the money and ran, much to the relief of all three fathers. Steve's father later told us "Listening to you three was worse than my three tours as a fighter pilot fighting Nazis." My father was weeping with joy. Dave's father, who had 2 Sherman's destroyed while he was in them, kept whispering under his breath "Hallelujah!" with a look of relief on his face.

I saw her in Madison, Tom Petty headlined.

 
I am well aware that this woman has a reputation for being a bitch, but I rather like that about her!
