Years back I heard a rumor, the inspiration for Lola was a woman dressed as a man in drag. Such a confusing thought, until realizing it was a time when androgynous was a fashion thing. Still, likely just a rumor no matter how high Clapton may have been at the time. :)

Clapton? "Lola" was by the kinks. I don't think Clapton had anything to do with "Lola" unless he was dyslexic and Allman corrected his spelling.

Anyhow - as it's a music thread, I'll put down a couple I've been listening to recently.

You're right. In the early morning hours I confused "Lola" with "Layla." My bad. Perhaps I should lay off those nightcaps? But I'm working my way through a gifted case of very fine Calvados. :)

Hope it goes down smooth.

It does, with just the right warmth and aftertaste. I don't usually care for flavored brandies, but this is made in Spain with Seville oranges from the onset. Seville oranges, unlike American counterparts, are smaller, more acidic, less sweet and intensely flavorful. Only orange oil from the peel is used in the making of the Calvados.

Grizzly Bear - Yet Again

Horrible morning. Woke to find Dog completely unresponsive. Called our Vet in a complete panic. She arrived in just a few minutes, living nearby and a personal friend of many years. After a quick examination, she showed me chocolate residue on his teeth and gums. Chocolate is toxic for dogs. Yup, my wife and a neighbor demolished half a plate of my neighbor's home made triple chocolate cookies, leaving the uneaten remainder of the plate on the dining room table. During the night, the plate had been licked clean. Out vet injected him with some kind of antidote from her emergency kit, then stuck a hose down his throat, pumping him full of water. 20 minutes later he was dragging me out the door, then as soon as we were outside, painting a fire hydrant with a stream that lasted a good 12 minutes. We returned home and he's been moving around like an arthritic old man. The vet says that will pass in a day or two, to keep him well hydrated. My wife is filled with remorse. Things happen, and this too shall pass. It was his own fault for being a glutton. He knew better than to eat anything off the table not given to him and gave in to temptation. I'm going back to bed, my wife will have to take him on the next walk. And no, I am not letting him get in our bed. :)

So glad your poochie is ok...look at it this way, if he's in the bed with you, you know he's not gettin' into trouble...at least with food, anyway...:2razz:

In the mid-70's I saw Return To Forever in concert. Chick Corea/keyboards, Stanley Clarke/bass, Al Di Meola/guitar, Lenny White/drums and percussion.

They performed quite a fantastic fusion-jazz set. Corea did this awesome solo under the hood of a mic'd grand piano.

Miss those days.

Thanks. Dog rarely gets into trouble, the oversized coward is afraid of everything, including his shadow. We're usually careful with food, keeping it away from temptation. This time, my wife was in a sugar stupor. OD'd on those triple chocolate cookies. I ate a half of one, damn good, but the sugar content was way too much for me.
