Current TV Series You'd Like To Recommend

Jack Ryan Season 1- just started watching it. So far so good. First episode is well done, though I'm starting to feel its falling into the usual dichotomy of the goods guys in the West versus the Arabic bad guys. I hope it starts to bring some nuances, but I'm only done with the first episode. Keeping fingers crossed.

I haven't seen it, but I read some reviewers outraged that it gives too much space to the terrorists and seems to justify them, so I'm sure it will provide the nuances you are craving.

It's reasonably entertaining. Follows a formula that puts the two alphas on a collision course. Similar to FAUDA, an Israeli production.

What is it about?

An accountant is laundering money for a Mexican cartel. His business partner tries to cheat them so they kill him but the accountant convinces them to let him go to this town in the Ozarks to launder the money there. It is really well done with great actors and its well written

Catching up on the Castle Rock season. I think we made it to episode 4. I like it. My wife says its too slow. But, she likes snappy dialog crap like OITNB, whereas I like puzzles like Cold Case Files.

I liked it. I definitely didn't see the ending coming.

Also, that suicide in the first episode has to be one of the most creative and effective methods I've ever heard of. Once initiated...no possibility of failure.

Westworld and The Expanse.

Unforgotten. PBS. Excellent.

Maniac, the new Netflix 10-episode series (with Sci-Fi touches) that is available now, is simply amazing. Funny (black humor), terrifying, suspenseful (drags a little in the middle episodes but picks up again for the final ones), poignant, thought-provoking, creative, unconventional, all at the same time. This is one of the best TV series I've ever watched, and no, I don't own Netflix stock and I'm not associate with them in any way, shape, or form.

An added bonus is that Emma Stone looks stunning in it. All the actors do very well. It's hugely entertaining; a must-watch. I'm surprised that Netflix achieved this level of production quality, already.

Someone above recommended The Expanse. I concur. It is excellent.

I also liked the two seasons of The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime. Season 3 will be available on October 5.

I also like Colony but it was a bit more interesting when we didn't know much about the aliens. Now it is dragging a little. Well, [spoiler - stop reading if you haven't seen it], there is now a new species of aliens so maybe it will get better again, next season.

Maniac is a show that really got under my skin. Its blunt honesty crawled out of the tv and filled the whole room, making my own life feel like fiction. The second half of the series was particularly heavy, and I'm going to give it a second viewing to properly process it.

Anyway, I agree about it being one of the best. I would go so far as to say that this will be the single most defining art house/comedy/surreal/psychological story of the decade.

Emma Stone was really great, but it was Jonah Hill in particular who seemed like he had been preparing his entire life just for this role.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. And yes, Johah Hill was phenomenal. But being a heterosexual male, I was, erm, a bit more interested in Emma Stone, hehe.

The new Money night NBC show Manifest seems interesting. It is a mystery kinda comparable maybe to Lost.

The plane depart in April of 2013 ran into turbulence in the air and landed shortly after. Only when they landed the date was in November 2018. It was 5 and have years later but the people on the did not look a day older only their friends and relatives are older.

Man in the High Castle Season 3: will binge watch in a few hours. I cant wait!

Watched one episode. Hated it. Thought it mindless. Maybe I have undiagnosed issues

The Man in the High Castle has a new season out today!

Also, on Netflix is a good sitcom, Maron. Comedian Mark Maron plays himself, he does comedy, he has a podcast (like in real life). First season starts a bit slow, but gets better as it goes, funny show.

It gets better. You can't judge a series by watching only one episode, which is just building up things, until the series catches fire.

I am a big fun of The Man in the High Castle. I've already watched season 3 episode 1, and I look forward to the continuation. I am however a bit afraid that the series will lose steam. Somehow S3E1 seemed less good than Season 1 and Season 2. We'll see.

I just watched the first 2 episodes of the season. Youre right, the initial episode is a bit convoluted, but I think its because its been awhile, and viewers need time to acclimitize to the complex plotlines. Everything turns seamless by the second episode for me so all is well.

Damn, the easter eggs and research they put into this show is great. The head of the Nazis in America is George Lincoln Rockwell, the real life father of the white supremacist movement. Wow. Childan finally shows up in the second episodes and he's always good for a laugh, I'll continue to binge it throughout the weekend.

Good, I'm glad that S3E2 is good, then. I haven't had the time to watch it yet, but will get to it.

LOL, I said above "I'm a big fun" - typo, meant big fan, obviously.
I don't think I'm that fun... :-(

It may be a tad niche, but The Art of Drumming is a series consisting of drummers talking about and playing drums and drummers who inspired them. BBC4

Man in the High Castle- Season 3. Just finished binge watching it and all I can say is ,,, wow. 8.5/10

The amount of research they put into the story is ... just incredible. The central plot involves the Nazis planning to invade alternate Earths- this ties in with PKD's plans for making a sequel of his book with a very similar premise. The other easter eggs like George Lincoln Rockwell (father of the American white supremacist movement), America Year Zero, and the Time Tunnel like laboratory are just amazing. Sure, the whole show isnt perfect by a long shot, but it's still good enough to recommend to any PKD fan imo.

Best characters: Rufus Sewel's John Smith is awesome (pity about the name though- too simple), as well as Robert Childan (who is thankfully played for laughs most of the time, though his character takes a dark turn this season).

Now onto binge watching Better Call Saul season 4 this weekend.

Finished Better Call Saul Season 4- the ending of the final episode brought a smile to my face- since Jimmy finally turns into Saul Goodman. I wasnt too keen on this season since it took a dark turn, especially for Mike's character, but I can see why it would. 8/10

Now I'm starting to watch Haunting of Hill House- I wasnt too happy because its not a direct adaptation of the book (of which I am a very big fan). Saw the first episode and it was so-so. At this point I dont care too much for the characters in it, so we'll have to see if it pans out. I couldnt get into American Horror Story (I stopped watching after the 2nd episode of the first season), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one.
