Death Wish (2018) Two Thumbs Up

Re: Death Wish (2018)

I wish I'd waited to get it on HD Movie Codes.

It wasn't terrible. Don't get me wrong. If you like guns and gore and gratuitous violence then this is the movie for you. It had some pretty good scenes (I believe my favorite was the scene with Jack) but it just failed to live up to expectations. Just almost felt like a limp handshake. Just meh.

Oh, and his brother?
I swear, I told my husband, "You'll find out that in the end, the dirtbag brother owed money to these guys, and that's why they are coming after his family." But no - nothing. Just a random encounter that started out with Kersey complimenting a guy on his tattoo." WTAF?

You brag about stealing? Shameful.

We just watched Game Night. It was OK for free. Not sure I'd pay to see it though.

Re: Death Wish (2018)

Yeah I was talking about 10 to Midnight today. I'm normally not a big Bronson fan, but that movie was fantastic.

It's not that different from John Wick.

Yeah I wonder how you'd feel if someone stole from you?

Do you watch YouTube?

Spare me the sanctimonious bull****, Rae.

Re: Death Wish (2018)

Ah. my appologies.

No worries.

If you are a movie buff, and have something like Vudu, purchasing digital movie codes is actually the way to go if you don't want to be encumbered with the physical disk. I rarely pay more than $8 for the code, and it is redeemed at Vudu or Movies Anywhere, which ports to Vudu. Then I can watch it on TV, on the laptop, on my iPad, my phone - anywhere. I can go to my Mom's house, 500 miles away, and sign in to her Vudu app on her TV and watch the movies there.

For far, far cheaper than buying disks. Assuming you are into buying disks. Most people aren't, anymore, it seems.

It's usually about the same price to buy the code and have it permanently, than to rent from VOD on DirecTV or rent from Redbox and have it forgotten in your car for a week.

I have a serious pet peeve about pirating, and I read your statement as something it wasn't. Theft of IP is not cool.
Thanks for the information, I'll look into it.

Re: Death Wish (2018)

Youtube? what's that got to do with the price of rice?

It's the same thing. Watching old concert footage or a new movie on the Internet, be it on YouTube or some site with a thousand links, is not stealing. Well, not unless you hacked into your neighbor's wifi feed.

It is stealing. If you go to a pirate site and watch Death Wish, without paying for it, you're a thief. If you watch an old concert on YouTube you are not. For if the owners of that concert are not wanting said concert on youtube, it get's pulled.

There is no moral, intellectual or honest argument you can make to justify theft of IP.

Going to a website, any website, is not stealing. It's surfing.

Negative. If you go to a website, and obtain IP through piracy, it is theft, and you should jailed for it. IP is not free, it requires resources to create, the creators did so for the express purpose of ROI and have legal protections to their works. If you obtain said IP without proper due compensation to the legal owners of said IP you have committed theft. End of STORY.

Wherein did I say visiting a website anything? I didn't. I said watching a pirated movie, that is illegal.

Spoiler free

We loved it. Seriously, it was fun, brutal, engaging, brutal... did I mention brutal? It had moments of tear jerk, then moments of DAAAAMN. I'll just say this, there were moments that made the audience GASP. There were laughs too, some moments were a bit over top, but in the end, it was a good remake of an old movie.

Sure did spend a lot on TV promotion.
Willis rarely disappoints. Even in his roles that depart from the actin films.
Same as Statham. Only he rarely departs.

Re: Death Wish (2018)

I actually enjoy the John Wick movies. I'm a huge fan of Keanu Reeves, so that helps.

The action choreography in those things are impressive.

Glad to hear that....because I'm really set on watching it.
