Pirating movies has been a thing for years, even before the internet really got into gear.

Though I must admit that the quality of the product has increased rather substantially.
 
Previews looked good to me. What about it is “politically correct”?

Oh yeah. They always get leaked. But the quality isn’t always great so I don’t know why people bother.

Costing $15-$20 to see a movie in minimal comfort might have something to do with it.

Double that if you want to pay for company which is always nice.

I am fortunate. The movie theater near me is awesome. The chairs are the cushy lazy boy type recliners that go all the way back and props your legs up. If you are with a date the middle arm rests goes all the way. They serve beer and real food, not just popcorn and candy. And the place is clean. I look forward to going. I do realize the price can be an issue for many people, though.

The MCU movies have an average gross of $795 million on an average budget of $189 million.
Black Anther will do above average. How on earth is that a waste?

My global objection is that Hollywood acts all the world like they have become confused on what their business is, and also that way way too much of what they produce is not very good.

This movie looks like it might be a case in point, like Star Wars.

A secondary point is that increasingly I find those who fancy themselves to be opinion makers lying as they drive for UTOPIA...and I have a problem with that.

Most of the theaters here have gone to the power recliners, one planned to do food and even put in a good restaurant with a bar onsite, but never started the planned theater service.There are a few of these up in Seattle, my daughter tells me that they are nice. I do really like the combo of being able to have a few drinks before a movie and then getting a recliner to watch it with a good sound system. We have one that has All U Want soda and popcorn, and they even have a bunch of flavors we can shake on the popcorn. I like this enough that I would go every week if Hollywood did not have its head up its ass.

Their business is making money, and Black Panther will easily top $600 million, not to mention merchandising. So they seem to be spot on right there. And the critics are loving Black Panther, so when you say "not good," you seem to mean to your own taste. And I liked The Last Jedi...better then The Force Awakens, much better than the crappy prequels, though not quite as good as the original trilogy.

Because it features a black guy as the main character in an action hero type role and it makes older white people/white people uncomfortable. I am pumped for this movie. After all, the central plot is that it's a secret futuristic high tech African nation. Luke Cage is already high on my list as favorite superheros, and Black Panther could top them all, depending on if any of the secondary characters shine through in Black Panther.

I find it fascinating that the one who made it claims that it is not intended to be a political project as he is making it but now it is supposed to be the preeminent experience for the black culture of the decade or maybe even generation....it is SUPER POLITICAL.

Nothing directly because Black Panther is literally Trump on steroids. The P.C. is coming from threats that ANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS WILL BE HEAVILY SCRUTINIZED AS HATE SPEECH. This is an official statement from Rotten Tomatoes.Think about that. The villain looks boring and the CGI looks middling and yet, scrutiny of the film is going to be considered hate speech.

I want Hollywood to step back from the politics and rechannel that energy into making good movies.....telling good stories....stories that embrace all of humanity and not just the parts these assholes in Hollywood like.

It is not their job to decide for us what we like or whether we get to UTOPIA, they are the prostitutes in this story according to ancient wisdom.

They dont decide.

They never did decide. The box office does. Superhero movies are big business and this movie will likely do well, thats why it was made. If you dont like it then go watch a Bollywood movie or something because you dont get to decide.
