It is a great series, not quite as good as Band of Brothers because they went for a more broken up narrative, it's still absolutely amazing and one thing is for sure, compared to Band of Brothers, it's not for the faint-hearted.

The savagery of the Pacific Campaign I think often goes underappreciated and this series does not back down in showing it.
 
All those battles made the Marines what they are today, and what they never were prior.
