My band, the Edison Freeman Project, is no more. Edison has retired, and the magic in our band, Sherrie Sarno, has moved back to Escanaba, Michigan. I've got to post about her. If you closed your eyes, you would swear that Janice Joplin came back to life. She did a lot of Joplin songs, but here is one she wrote herself. That's Edison Freeman on guitar, me on bass, Jungle Bob Wedward on Drums, and of course, Sherrie singing. She had the flu when we did that episode, but you wouldn't know it. She was, and still is, a real trooper. This was a great 5 year run with this band, and one that I will never forget. This New Year's Eve, if anybody is in the Conroe, Texas area, I will be playing with the Charlie Parker Band out of Austin. After that, gotta find me a new gig. LOL.

Meanwhile, here is Sherrie. I hope you enjoy it. :)

That's some good sounds. Too bad your band broke up.

no shortage of gigs for a good bass player
but it often takes a while for the chemistry to develop in a fresh group
hope that is brief with your new project

Good luck with future endeavors.

Here's one more for ****s and giggles. The guy on the left is James Henry. who won the Houston Press Award for best guitar player in Southeast Texas, and later did a European tour with Trudy Lynn. We had some great players in that band.

Some Trivia about Edison Freeman..... Who remembers the Doctor Demento Show? If you heard it in it's early days, Edison was his sidekick, Captain Heavy. Doctor D produced Edison's First album, when he was in a band called Kingdom. It made the Billboard Top 100. Edison was also a very accomplished bass player who toured with Stan West's jazz band, but preferred guitar. I'm glad he did, because I would not have had a job otherwise. LOL. When I first started playing for Edison, my training had been in classical music and jazz, with a heavy emphasis on reading music, although I occasionally used charts in studio sessions. It got me credit for the Clutch City song for the Houston Rockets, and credits on a Roy Head album. However, there was a downside to that. I had to think before every note I played, which resulted in my playing lacking soul. I could play, but I was not really all that accomplished. Edison cured me of that, and I became an accomplished player rather late in life. Oh well, better late than never. I had some big shoes to fill. The bass player I replaced in that band was Randy Rice, who had previously played for Eric Burdon. When I auditioned, I screwed up badly, and thought that he was going to kick my ass out the door. He hired me instead. Go figure. LOL.

Edison is going to be moving back to Los Angeles early next year.
