Mindhunter

I just finished “Mind Hunter” and it was slow to evolve, but became more watchable thru episodes 2 and on. I don’t care for the full screen location graphics and the writers seem confident that they will get a multi season run as the end of season 1 leaves many subplots unfinished. The Kansas back story is very disturbing and slow developing. Season 2 debuts in 2019 WTF?

I agree that the ‘Holden’ character seems wooden, but I look for his partner to have a meltdown due to domestic issues and Holden and the scientist to get entangled..........

The scientist bats for the other team. I don't think she would be interested in Holden. :)

I got that, maybe something happens before the trade window closes.......

Says the biggest fan of 50 Shades of Grey... ;)

Not the biggest fan, but I certainly enjoyed it when it first came out. I would have liked it a lot more without all the sex, honestly. Don't get me wrong - I'm not a prude. Not in the least. I always felt like the sex scenes were just added to make the books stand out. It was their gimmick. I did, though, think it was a good love story, and I'm a sucker for a good love story (when I have time to even read).

I am watching MINDHUNTER now. I don't really want to go into much detail of my impressions of the show yet, it's not all good, but I have one comment, with a qualifier..

Qualifier: I am the son of a Special Agent of the FBI. My father joined the FBI in the early 1950s and ran bank robbery investigations for most of his career. From 1975 to 1982, however, he taught bank robbery investigation and firearms at the academy in Quantico and was colleagues with the two men on who agents Tench and Ford are based. As a child I spent a lot of time hanging out at the FBI academy on weekends when my father had paperwork to grade, or meetings to get me and my brothers out of my mom's hair and give her a break . That is all I will say as a qualifier, for now... now my one comment..

Holt McCallany as agent Tench gives the most pitch-perfect portrayal of a late 70s, early 80s field agent/Quantico instructor I have ever seen, or will ever see. If you want to know what an FBI agent was like from that era, you see him precisely in Holt McCallany's portrayal.

Yup. If they had ended the season with them catching that budding serial killer in KS it would have been an effective coda. Instead they leave us hanging and made all the scenes with that suspect somewhat pointless when they could have done it as flashbacks the following season.

LOL thats gonna end up like a soap opera.

I saw that "twist" coming a mile away. His growing obsessions with his subjects was plain to see by episode 2. It was thoroughly predictable.

Birds of a feather, eh? ;)

They couldn't do that. They had to follow the time line of that case.

They didn't catch the BTK killer for many years to come and only because of a stupid mistake he made.

I wasn't watching so much the characters of the agents, but of the cases they were working.

It is a fascinating subject and how they went about it was also fascinating.

Trying to change how things have always been done is a huge uphill battle and I liked seeing that portrayed as well.

Looking back it seems obvious to do things that way, but not at the time.

Having just finished Season 2, this was so cool to hear about the two that Holden and Tench are based on.

Exactly. I watched S1 again before S2, and the flow makes so much sense. Especially the BTK story line.

I am an absolute fan girl over this show. I love it. It’s so interesting to me.

Not as much sex in the 2nd season, which was great for me. They focused more on the characters, and the cases, than sex scenes.

I have always been fascinated by serial killers so this show was great for me.

It is easy to look back and see what they couldn't, but at the time who knew what to do?

I am watching the Unabomber in his own words. That is another case that after the fact, things made sense, but at the time things seemed random.

Yeah the show is right up my alley. Haven’t watched the unabomber yet tho.

The unabomber one is just so-so. Nothing new.

Perhaps, but it makes it anti-climactic.

I have three shows I’ve been told to watch. Narcos, Oz and The Wire.

Lady, if youre not gonna watch The Wire, I'll never talk to you again- its the greatest show of all time- watch it now!!!

Narcos is excellent too. I admit Ive never seen Oz.

I will. I’ll probably watch all three. I need a new show, although Dead To Me came back today. That’s pretty cool.
