Glen Campbell Dead at 81

We knew it was coming but what a bummer. The guy was a great entertainer and left a tremendous legacy.

God be with you, Glen.

He wrote this when he knew he had Alzheimer's, and specifically because of that. The effort and will it would have taken is tearing me up a bit. Released in 2014, when it was setting in, and he knew he was on his final tour.

I used to work with his daughter, she performed with him many times. He lived fairly close to me, saw him once at a convenience market.

Very underrated as a musician, damn, he was good, and we lost a great one.

RIP Glen Campbell. You were always one of my favorite singers, and Gentle on My Mind is still my favorite song by you. You will be missed.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Class Act! Condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

He gave a giant boost to Alzheimer's awareness.

I can't stand country music, or Rap. Only 2 genres I really don't like. But I always like Campbell. He was talented as hell, I swear he could play every musical instrument there was.

RIP Glen.

Very sad news. Glen Campbell was absolutely a huge musical hero of mine, up there with Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. I heard a track from his Adios album just this morning, he was cutting amazing tracks until really recently. RIP Rhinestone Cowboy. Here's my very favourite track of his:

He wasn't underrated by people who know guitar and studio music. The man could flat out shred, and was Brian Wilson's go-to guy for a lot of things, including Pet Sounds.

In the jazz world, he had what they call 'big ears'. He could pretty much play whatever he heard.

"By the time I get to Phoenix, she'll be rising"

1967 Glen Campbell - By The Time I Get To Phoenix
An old favorite

By the Time I Get to Phoenix" is an American pop song written by Jimmy Webb and made famous by Glen Campbell, whose version reached #3 on the U.S. Pop charts in 1967. It was originally recorded by Johnny Rivers in 1965. Enjoy!

Glen Campbell - "Wichita Lineman" - Original Stereo LP - HQ 1968

Rest in peace, Glen Campbell.

I am not real thrilled with how the end of his life was handled. They(The Family) say that it's what Glen wanted. Maybe.....

One of my mom's favorites, used to hear him all the time at home as a kid, saw him on TV a lot too, mom had to tune in whenever Glen was on after we finally got a TV when I was 9. I believe I am in the minority who thinks he belonged in True Grit. Almost no one has a bad word to say about him over this long life, even the women as I recall....
