If you could take only one children's show to a desert island, which would it be?

You can take the whole series, but you can take nothing else in the way of shows/movies/etc..

Thoughts?

I would take the Penguins of Madagascar.

I love that show on it's own.

Probably Adventure Time.

Happy Tree Friends

It won't be anything Minions that's for sure, my 2 year old grandson has it on the widescreen from the minute he comes over, until we pack him for home.

Spongebob.

Does that count? If so im taking that.

Otherwise it would be a toss up between Pete & Pete, Salute your shorts, and Are you Afraid of the Dark

I don't see why not...it's a kids show, isn't it?

I dunno - I have never seen it - just going by wikipedia.

It would help me make the decision quickly to end my life to put me out of my own misery.

It's a tie: Winnie the Pooh or Rescue Rangers

Avatar the Last Airbender, the comedy, the writing, even the martial arts choreography is legit.

If you haven't watched it, do yourself the favor. Avoid the M Night Shamalan movie though, its worse than Gigli.

Wallace and Ladmo. Best show ever, lasted 35 years. As funny for adults as for kids. The show never ever talked down to kids. The characters on the show are essentially a DSM V checklist: Captain Super, the wimpy superhero with delusional thinking, Boffo the Clown, a surly depressed clown. Aunt Maude who told graphic and sadistic stories to the kids, Bobby Joe Trouble, defiant delinquent biker, Marshall Good, the unemployed and depressed former movie cowboy, Mr. Grudgemeir, anal retentive, Gerald the offensive brat who only got the job because of his "uncle" Barry Goldwater, and many more. It was like Monty Python for kids. Sadly, Wallace and Ladmo are dead, but Pat McMahon who played most of the cast is still going strong.

Here is an example of some of the weird humor:

Never heard of it.

Well, considering they made five per week for 25 years...you would have a TON of viewing material for your stay on the island.

What is that? 5 times say 50 weeks times 25 years? Over 6,000 shows to watch?!?!

Well, not all was saved...grrrrr There are many shows saved but the majority is gone. Ladmo was a godlike figure to anyone who grew up here, a big goofy guy. He would regularly bowl and hit a few pubs with legendary coach Frank Kush back in the day. I have a friend who was the show producer for the last decade or so of the show. Wallace came from extreme wealth in NY, he couldn't stand all the phonies, so he came all the way to AZ in the 50's to do something creative, his original character was Wallace Sneed, a pompous rich moron, later he morphed into the straight man to Ladmo's humor. I'm telling you, it has a huge cult following, and the writing was just hilarious, the cast loved Monty Python and The Goon Show and Ernie Kovacs, Bob & Ray and Steve Allen and modeled their humor that way. PBS did a big segment on them a few years back when they did an anthology of kids shows, there was nothing like this show.

Another example, Aunt Maud's stories, they never ended well, and there were no happy endings.

It is amazing how many networks in the pre-1970 era treated their shows on tape.

The BBC used to routinely erase great shows just to save the cost of a new role of video tape?!?

Apparently, they were about to erase all of Monty Python's Flying Circus when one of the Python's intervened and bought them up.

But many great shows were just erased...never to be seen again...both in England and in America.

Those idiots.

Johnny Carson's first Tonight Show is long gone, his guest was Groucho Marx, I'd love to see that...

the Bullwinkle Show

'Watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat. See...nothin' up my sleeve. Presto!'

That was the first children's show that made me feel like it was not just targeted at children (even though I was a kid when I first watched it). I actually felt kinda mature to watch it.

Hmmm, I'd go with Gilligan's Island, just to be consistent.

It's so amazing that in this day - when EVERYTHING is recorded - that classics like those were deliberately erased just to save a few bucks.

And it's not like someone taped them with their phone or something. If the film is gone...it is gone forever. Sad.
