Powers Booth RIP

Famous Actor Powers Boothe Has Died at Age 68

most people remember him as the Fighter Pilot in Red Dawn

Too bad-only 68

I read it last night on a tweet from Beau Bridges and told my wife BB died. She googled it and told me I was retarded.

I remember Boothe from several movies, but usually know him by face not name. "Nixon" comes immediately to mind.

Rest in peace.

Sir, if you check the life expectancy charts you will see that he beat the average by a few years.

in the USA I believe its around 77 or so for men

Uh, you're reading that wrong.

No, that is what the chart says. Now since I was born in 1951 and will be 66 in three weeks it certainly has gotten my attention.
So I may got a good 6 months left in me if lucky. Well, everything has got to come to an end one way or another.

Greetings, TurtleDude. :2wave:

Great movie that had us on the edge of our seats back then! R.I.P. to a fine actor, and condolences to his family and friends. :peace:

He also did a good job in a film about a guy who decides to destroy his own dam in the Amazon --the Emerald Forest which I really liked and of course (my favorite Western) Tombstone-where everyone was second fiddle to Val Kilmer's incredibly portrayal of Doc Holiday (I rank Kilmer not getting an Oscar for that up there with Jethro Tull not being in the R&R Hall of Fame)

call up the guy who sells you life insurance and ask him to explain it to you and Hawkeye.

you are forgetting that someone who is 65 today is expected to live to close to 80

When he was born he was expected to live to 66.5, he made it too 68, that's call WINNING.

this is getting really stupid. and If we took a poll: did Powers Booth die too Young how do you think the poll will come out?

He beat the odds, but 68 is still way too young to sound fair to me! Look at the current troublemakers in their 80s as examples!

He will be missed.

A very diverse actor, that brought great energy and truth to any role he portrayed, making you believe he was the character - he could be evil or passionate, carrying or villainous, mentally brilliant or foolishly clownish, all equally.

He will be missed.

I hope you are well, we have not spoken much of late.

I have pretty much always been a live fast/die young kinda guy anyway so this is a silly thing for me to argue about, but I have had my fill of "Oh poor guy, he died"....when said guy had a great long life. It just does not sit with me. I say this is cause for a party....THE DUDE WON!

However, I fully admit to being in an off mood these last few days, some family unpleasantness is grinding my gears.

No, that's called not understanding average life expectancy. Most people born in 1950 were expected to live well past 66.5.

I'm sorry to hear that, but in your favor, you always seem to be striving to be fair in your communications with others, and that counts as a plus for you, especially right now when the Fates appear to be testing all of us to see what we're made of!

I remember him from the TV movie Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones which was based of course on the real life tragedy. He gave a chilling performance as Jim Jones.
