How do you feel about the new Wonder Woman? Specifically about her build. I have to say that I am HAPPY with the justice league picks so far. But being a fan of the UFC, whose girlfriend is a kick boxer and gymnast, I have to say that I'm wondering about the pick for Wonder Woman. Does she strike anyone else as...maybe...not quite physically fit enough?

We are in an age where women are big in the UFC. Respecting build is actually possible (and I actually prefer a sturdy built woman to a frail thing...probably because I'm big and clumsy lol). So does anyone else feel that maybe they could have picked a stronger character? Just my thoughts on this.

Thread needs pics. I have no idea about the show or actress.

Looks very fit to me!

I think Wonder Woman wasn't supposed to be this muscular character. She relies more on wit than strength.

I think it's generally kinda ridiculous to have twig-like female action stars doing the same maneuvers as hypermuscular male action stars.

But i don't really care as much when it's an amazonian superhero, i can accept the detachment from reality.

I am not a fan but I have heard that very few actresses want to take these kinds of roles, I assume because of the amount of work involved and typecasting. This woman is more a model, plus she and her husband are wealthy, this seems like a sort of lark for her.

The box office forecast is not good, likely because we have had a lot of up with women movies in the action adventure category, and the young men are tiring of them.....I am still looking to nail down an explanation.

When you throw supernatural powers into the mix physique doesn't matter all that much. Otherwise the idea of Thor holding his own against the Hulk would be ridiculous.

True, but I think the one thing we dont want in our super-heroes is ordinary, and this woman looks pretty ordinary.

Linda Carter, the original WW... and cheesy as the show was... I loved it back in the day. So no, Gal Gadot is just fine.

Sure. She does. And maybe it is because she is on screen with Afleck and others... but then again...

To me her arms aren't big enough and she isn't well defined like a fighter would be. Or "thick" as it were. Maybe I just watch too much MMA and spend too much time in a dojo? Or maybe I'm not partial to the dainty look?

I don't disagree, but even still. If you are a warrior...it only makes sense to have a warrior's build.

I know I'm being nit picky lol. If I were to make a list of women who have played bad ass fighters in Hollywood...only a few have been believable.

I wouldn't say that. She is in great shape. No question and I'm not knocking that. But she...to me...doesn't have a fighter's build. She is still hot though lol.

Its not really a question of if she is in good enough physical condition. It is a question of if her boobs are big enough.

(its a comic book being made into a movie...relax)

Sorta looked from the trailer like Wonder Woman is a Ninja now, gotta be thin almost boy frame to spin like that right?

Linda Carter in that costume had the greatest shoulders and chest area ever seen on TV.

That was actually quite funny.

Maybe this is the problem. All the villains are fully clothed. The male superheroes are fully dressed. The women all look link they are high dollar fantasy hookers.

Now...this is a two edged sword. As soon as you point out the obvious, it becomes the patriarchy trying to oppress their natural sexuality. Or just pointing it out could be sexist. And for the record...who cares...its a comic book drawn to appeal to young men.

"Wonder Woman" may be a feminist icon, but some male moviegoers aren't happy about some scheduled women-only screenings of the film.

The controversy began when the famous Alamo Drafthouse cinema in Austin, Texas, announced it would be hosting a screening of the new movie, which stars Gal Gadot as the superhero.
"Apologies, gentlemen, but we're embracing our girl power and saying 'No Guys Allowed' for one special night at the Alamo Ritz," the announcement read. "And when we say 'People Who Identify As Women Only,' we mean it. Everyone working at this screening -- venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team -- will be female."

Assholes.....

I think they did an amazing job!

I like her, she looks pretty good.

But yes, I agree, if you're going for scantily-clad woman warrior, pick someone with an amazon build please. I mean, with all the emphasis these days on not having model-skinny women everywhere, they missed an opportunity to have a solid but curvy woman in a role where it made perfect sense.

Linda Carter was a brick house.
