[R.I.P.] J. Geils

John Warren Geils Jr., the founder and lead guitarist for the J. Geils Band, was found dead Tuesday in his Massachusetts home. He was 71. J. Geils found dead in Massachusetts home at age 71 | Fox News

I don't know who wrote the FOX piece but if this is what they know about J Geils - "The band, whose music bridged the gap between disco and new wave,..." - they don't know J Geils.

The band was a GREAT roadhouse show in the 70's and it's a shame that their commercial success didn't come until the MTV era. J's death won't make a lot of headlines but I wore out needles on "Full House" and "Live".

Peace, brother.

RIP John W.

Centerfold was tied with Freeze Frame as my favorites from that group!

R.I.P. J Geils. Condolences to his family and friends. :peace:

I loved those two songs. I was really small when they came out and my mom thought they were a little risque but they were awesome nonetheless.

I liked the Sanctuary and Love Stinks albums best. Blow Your Face Out was a good live album, too.

this was constantly in the background during my 'freak' years:

take out those false teeth mama, i wanna suck on your gums!!!

the good stuff

lol. They started life as a blues band. I was a little young (and more into Brit rock) to see them in their heyday but my older cousin maintains they were one of the best live acts he'd ever seen.

Yes...I am cynical.

Must of Got Lost is a great song. RIP John Warren Geils Jr.

I thought that description of his music was weird too. The only time I saw J Geils live was at a blues concert during which he shared the stage with Jimmie Vaughan and BB King.

I've been to a lot of concerts in my time, but TJGB is one of the few that I always wanted to see and never did. I have heard they were great live, though.
