Another season, another set of comments on new shows:

Double Decker: Buddy cop comedy, the anime version. Brightly colored, fast paced comedy. Good stuff.
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime: The novels this is based on has been pretty well received, but I have not read them. Kinda tempted now as this could be pretty awesome. The title so far is exactly what you get, a guy gets killed, and is reincarnated in a fantasy world as a slime. Much better than it sounds though.
Between The Sky And Sea: This might be the stupidest concept for a show, and it is by almost every metric pretty terrible. All the fish in the oceans disappear, so fish are now grown in orbital fish bowls. Only men are allowed to fish in the bowls to supply the world with fish. Until now, when the first women are going to try. Stupid concept, stupid characters, stupid story, and yet I was entertained. Not sure how many episodes I will last, but so far I am still watching it.
Zombie Land Saga: Ok, this is an even stupider premise. Girl leaves her house to drop off an application to be an idol singer, but is hit by a truck and killed. She wakes up as a zombie, and a guy explains he has zombified her and some other girls to be an idol group to promote the local area. Their first episode, they do, surprise, death metal. I enjoyed the show, but would never use the world "good" to describe it(at least without prefacing it with the word "not").
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai: Terrible name, pretty good show. Guy is hanging out in the library when he sees a girl from the school(who used to be a child actress) walking around through the library dressed in a bunny girl outfit...and no one notices her except him. Pacing is very slow, and this could end up being a teen romance comedy with light supernatural elements, or all out psychological horror, or something else completely. Whatever it is, it is really good.
Uzamaid: This show has no redeeming qualities. Woman who was a sergeant in the JSDF sees a cute little girl, and wants to be around her. She ends up applying as a maid at the girls house, and spends the whole show trying to get close to the girl in incredibly cringeworthy ways. It is supposed to be funny. It is not.
IRODUKU: The World in Colors: This season's entry from PA Works. May be the best looking anime TV show yet. Every single frame would look good framed and hung on a wall. Story is a girl from the future, in a world where magic works, is hurt doing some magic and loses the ability to see color. Her grandmother uses magic to send her back in time till when the grandmother was a teen(2018). The girl meets her family from the time, and some kids her age who will end up being friends of her grandmother. Show looks great, is interesting, and held my attention so far. Everything PA works puts out is at least good, and usually at lot better than good. This so far is up there with it's better shows.
Boarding School Juliet: wants to be Shakespeare meets School Rumble, but is not nearly as good as either. Not recommended.
Goblin Slayer: This might be great, it might be terrible. It is certainly very, very, very dark fantasy. Girl known only as "Priestess" joins a group of other young adventurers to do a quest rescuing kids who where kidnapped by goblins. The result is 2 of them dead, one gang raped, one who peed herself in terror. Priestess is rescued by a guy named Goblin Slayer, who does just that. While most of the worst is done off camera, this show is not for the faint of heart.
Anime Yell: Cheerleaders, the anime. Not good.

any one else get the feeling goblin slayer is pretty much konosuba but from the perspective of average people?

other then you have male goblin obligate rapists instead of female orcs

I saw a comment about Goblin Slayer and it was like, "that moment when the main character advocates genocide, and you totally support it." :lamo

My faves...

1. Neon genesis evangelian
2. Record of lodos war (love the D n D feel of it)
3. Cowboy Bebop
4. Naruto (guilty pleasure, lol)
5. Full metal alchemist
6. Vampire hunter d

A book that should be made into anime is the Mistbourne series. It would be great.

I did not like it at first either, then I watched the second episode. It comes into its own.

Did anyone watch Grand Blue: Dreaming last season? It has to be the funniest anime I have ever watched, it is also one of the few very few animes I know of to take place in university and not high school and it nails the experience perfectly.

I saw a couple episodes. Not my thing.

One thing that could actually really improve the show is if they delve into those kinda odd questions of morality.

I have heard from a couple others that it gets good, but I got enough to watch this season, so probably won't watch any more.

Maybe it will. I am liking the Goblin Slayer character. He kind reminds me of the Black Knight from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn -- stalwart and no-nonsense.

Show of the season so far, by far:

The eyeballs popping out did it for me. Should be gross, but was just hilarious instead. Plus every time the manager speaks, which never fails to crack me up. When Sakura asks how she became a zombie:

Manager: Come on. Haven't you seen a zombie movie before?
Sakura: I have, for the record.
Manager: Well there you go, then.

Sakura: Are you stupid?

Live action PV for Uzamaid.

This season, as explained by a foul mouthed sarcastic dude(it is really good, Gigguk is hilarious):

Good stuff.

I was thinking about Vampire Hunter D all this week. The setting was so interesting for me, I'm trying to work up a game synopsis that captures it.
The dystopian figure/armageddon...but with vampires that control regions and let the cattle do their thing as long as it doesn't bother them, sort of thing. But in Vampire D, they also had the crazy demonlike guys..that scene where he's running past tons of various crazy looking demons...that otherworldly look is something only anime has really done visually artistically to me.

His hat and that oddly long curved sword, the aesthetic was spot on. A more mature anime, not all high school teenie bop stuff.

Another one that captured some of that same otherwordly demon crazy was the introduction to Devilman (the originals). Man I just love that opening scene with the creatures killing one another, just magical. Of course, Devilman got a bit crazy and hyper-violent, but that magic aesthetic was wild stuff.

Have you seen Ninja Scrolls? It was a classic. Obviously fist of the north star before that.
But Ninja Scrolls was also re-envisioned as Basilisk, another good one.
