Stephan King's IT remake for big screen trailer is out. Looks promising.

I have read "IT" three times. I love Stephen King. There may be better writers but there are no better story tellers. Some of my favorite movies are based on his work.

Trailer looks good. I wonder if they are going to include their adult adventure as well.

Whether or not this movie will be good will come down to the chemistry between the kids and the performance of the actor playing Pennywise.

By far my favorite King book. Seems like it might be possible to actually do it justice with modern CGI. Fingers crossed.:2razz:

I realized I haven't read that book since maybe '97. Might be time for another round with it.

IT was the book that cured me of reading every Stephen King novel that came out. I cannot tell you how much I did not like it. And the TV adaption left me cold as well.

Not your cup of tea?

Whoa! Looks to be about ten times better than the John Ritter TV Miniseries version. That really paled compared to the book.

The stand TV mini was really good though. Better than the book, IMO.

I don't remember The Stand miniseries being better than the book. Maybe I need to rewatch it.

Looks really promising. Hopefully, we finally have a good remake of a ****ty movie instead of a ****ty remake of a good movie.

Freaking clowns, why are they so scary?

Because of Stephen King?

I really liked how it was done and the actors: Ed Harris, Rob Lowe, Gary Sinise, Ringwald, Giacomo, Jabbar, etc.

Scenes like this were awesome

I absolutely LOVE the early work like SALEM'S LOT, THE STAND, THE SHINING, the short story collection NIGHT SHIFT but when he did IT it was like watching a great talent put out pure crap. There was just so much I did not like about it. In fact, I did not even finish it.

I read the Kennedy time travel novel 11/22/63 when it came out and was not surprised to discover he wrote most of it during the early years as well.

Opposite POV here. I liked his later works like It. My favorite King books are Dark Tower series, especially the one with the train. Talisman was really good too.

Non horror: Green Mile; Shawshank Redemption. Man those books rocked. Hearts of Atlantis and Insomnia were fun reads too.

I love SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION - but cannot read the Dark Tower series at all.

I think great authors have certain stories in them that are bursting to get out. With King it was CARRIE and SALEM'S LOT and THE STAND and THE SHINING. And then he became this cottage industry that generated millions of dollars and had to write a book every year to keep that industry going and that explains much of the other output.

I started with the book where they met the train. So, I was hooked. I agree some of the books in the series are not very good. I skim read several of them.

For me, reading King has always been about his characters. His stories are not my cup of tea at all. But his characters are some of my favorites in all of lierature. They capture my imagination.

Hollywood has become a joke. There's no originality anymore. It's all either a remake or based off of something that someone else already made like comic books, books, games etc etc.

I see nothing wrong with remaking a tv movie for the big screen, if they do it right, and that's what they are trying here.

I must agree. I have not seen any stats, but I strongly suspect if you looked at the number of original films in 1970 and compare that figure to today, its least least a 50% erosion. Hollywood always adapted other medium - books and plays being the big two sources - but today its getting ridiculous.

I'm just glad they did not cast Johnny Depp or use Tim Burton to produce it. :)

As for the actors in this flick, Peter Sarsgaard as the clown should be interesting. Tim Curry did such a good job of being creepy in the first movie/mini series, I am very curious to see how much darker Peter can take.

The Stephen King flick that has actors which really grab me and just might pull me into a theater though is the Dark Tower. I really like Idris Elba, aka Stringer Bell, and I look forward to seeing him as Roland. Add to that one of my other favorite actors, Mathew McConaughey, and you have the makings of some very intriguing possibilities.

Obviously it's hard to judge the quality of an upcoming movie from 1 trailer that lasts 2½ minutes, but it actually looks like it might actually be worth seeing.

Never read the book (never cared to) but i've seen the original movie many times (just recently rewatched it) and liked it.

The book was better.

The way they did the TV mini....had more holes in it then NYC streets and had me scratching my head wondering "Why the **** did they do it that way?" alot.

What those morons did to Willy Wonka....they should've been ashamed of themselves.
