Stephan King's IT remake for big screen trailer is out. Looks promising.

I never saw it in its entirety but I watched the nostalgia critic review of the miniseries. Tim curry as pennywise may not have been scary, but the campiness of some of his scenes was part of the entertainment.

The book was better.

The way they did the TV mini....had more holes in it then NYC streets and had me scratching my head wondering "Why the **** did they do it that way?" alot.

I mostly liked the acting--casting. Flagg was awesome, for example. As was the M-O-O-N guy. Plus, since I knew the story line inside out, I didn't pay much attention to that stuff.

I really liked how it was done and the actors: Ed Harris, Rob Lowe, Gary Sinise, Ringwald, Giacomo, Jabbar, etc.

Scenes like this were awesome

I remember them filming this thing all over Vegas and disrupting a lot of stuff.

Hollywood has become a joke. There's no originality anymore. It's all either a remake or based off of something that someone else already made like comic books, books, games etc etc.

You have to admit this movie was due for a remake. The last one they did was so vanilla it was terrible.

The only think I thought every time the clown popped up was, Hey that's the guy from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

When I picture him in tights, it was really hard to be scared.

I'm just glad they did not cast Johnny Depp or use Tim Burton to produce it. :)

As for the actors in this flick, Peter Sarsgaard as the clown should be interesting. Tim Curry did such a good job of being creepy in the first movie/mini series, I am very curious to see how much darker Peter can take.

The Stephen King flick that has actors which really grab me and just might pull me into a theater though is the Dark Tower. I really like Idris Elba, aka Stringer Bell, and I look forward to seeing him as Roland. Add to that one of my other favorite actors, Mathew McConaughey, and you have the makings of some very intriguing possibilities.

I didn't see Tim Curry as creepy at all.

Creepy as in a middle aged man going after kids while dressed as a clown creepy.

I am going to say here what I wrote to my movie crazy buddy David, the trailer looks good (even though I think the old one was absolutely great already) but I just hope they left enough time to tell the story correctly, a lot of Stephen King books have been filmed to a level of just barely OK (a few ones were good, the Stand, the Shining, Cujo, Misery, Carrie, It, Dolores Claiborne the dead zone, shawshank, the green mile for example) but a lot were just mediocre IMO, sure I watched them because I am a huge King fan but really, children of the corn was just OK, the Tommyknockers, silver bullet, sleepwalkers, maximum overdrive, secret window, firestarter, cell, apt pupil, cat's eye, graveyard shift, needful things, stand by me, etc. etc. etc.

And the one that vexes me most WHERE ARE THE MOVIE ADAPTATIONS OF ROSE MADDER AND INSOMNIA!!!! and why was Needful things such a mediocre movie, it is one of my favorite books of King, the suspense, the terror, the evil does not come out properly in the movie. Don't get me wrong, it was not a train wreck like Maximum overdrive but also not as good as the Shining. Ed Harris was pretty good in the movie (but then again, I kinda like him as an actor, from things like the Abyss, Apollo 13, the Truman show to name just a few) but Max van Sydow, which is a pretty good actor too, was not convincing as Leland Gaunt. Christopher Walken might have been good, Ricardo Montelban maybe, John Colicos (Count Baltar on battlestar galactica) perhaps, Judd Hirsch, who knows but Max von Sydow?

If it were remade today, Bryan Cranston might have been a good Leland Gaunt, given an older make up to begin with but when he is going into his gun selling he could turn off the grey and back into a normal hair color but I am not holding my breath on that remake LOL.

But seriously, IT is a great concept and can be an awesome movie, just give it enough time, don't make it a 95 minute movie because I am not sure that will do justice to this awesome book.
