Watched some movies over the weekend

I'm a lucky man. But it took till I was 50 to meet her. And...the kicker is, we should have met so many times earlier in our lives. Her best friend is someone I went to HS with, small school, she would come over to sit in classes, go to our dances. We went to the same university, same major, but never met. She lived in Europe and went to Prague often, I used to go there several times a year. We met on FB...a (former) good friend of mine who was pretending to be separated from his wife friended her. I asked him, as a friend to not pursue her (since he was a married cheater scumbag and all) and because I was smitten. Of course he did anyways, and lied to me about it, and to his wife (he had lots of experience doing that). She saw him for the cheating a-hole he was, and we got together...we have been inseparable ever since. Love is love...no matter how long it takes. As for my ex friend...he refuses to grow up and be serious about one person at a time and is a really lonely person who created all the bad in his life, but accepts zero responsibility for it.
That's an awesome story and I am genuinely happy for both of you.

So I watched a few movies over the weekend and man...

Got through:

Back to the Future (I Know, I know, sacrilege right? I've never seen it til now).

Casino (De Niro)

Crimson Tide

And all I can say is... Wow!

They don't make em like they use to, each one of these left me more impressed than the last, just fantastic films.

The only thing I will say and I don't know what it was, I've watched a lot of violent films and it never really bothered me that much, but that scene in Casino with Pesci and his brother... Wow... Just something about the way they filmed that, to me one of the most graphically violent scenes I've ever seen, got quite uncomfortable watching it and that virtually never happens.

Same reaction to that scene. There was something about it that just made you think 'Man, awful way to die'.

Watched Interstellar......patronizing bunk

Come on, It was a decent flick.

Ridiculous ending..

First, here's a ASCII table converter so you can convert binary to text.
Does it on its own so all you have to do is start plugging in 1 and 0s, hit convert and it converts it into a letter or #.

Binary to Text translator

Better start with at least a 32 bit or digit binary # if you want it to render at least ONE number or letter

So we evolve into 5th dimensional beings so the Dad can enter a wormhole and transmit IN BINARY ( morse would have saved a lot of time ) the data to the daughter that would solve the gravity problem which would then start the whole " chicken or the egg " cycle over again and save humanity.

It would take a insurmountable amount of time for a human to trasmit that much data in binary by plucking strings and the Dad would have to know the ASCII table by heart.

The binary on the floor marked in dust was gibberish

Thats, among other things is what I found patronizing

meeeeeeeeeehhhhh

Was the acting good?

Yeah.

Was the story engaging?

Yeah.

That's all I really need.

I'm never satisfied with historical films in particular and I will always do research after watching one to see the real history, and I did read various things about the actual efficacy of the science in interstellar, but despite the fact that for example, William Wallaces portrayal and history is so ****ing wrong down to the very first date that's shown in Braveheart, I still enjoy it.

By the way, one that pissed me off royally recently was I watched Eddie the Eagle, why the hell they put the Calgary Olympics in the middle of the Austrian Mountains I'll never know.

Where he jumped in the film:

I admit, I'm a little nerdy and tend to over analyze things a bit, but that ending really bugged me.

I started complaining about the ending of Interstellar while watching it with my wife and daughter. My wife just rolled her eyes, my daughter yelled " shut it dad ! "

Lol.....I did enjoy Eddie the Eagle and never noticed that. Probably a good thing, would have gotten the same reception from my girls.

Meh no worries eh, I've been to COP in Calgary and when I first saw the venue me and my wife looked at eachother like... What the ****?

By the way, if you like the historical nitpicky stuff, you'll LOVE this youtube channel, his recent one on Apollo 13 was absolutely fabulous.

I agree. I felt it was totally contrived and had huge plot holes you could fit a galaxy into. Hats off to Nolan for daring to be different and original though.
