[h=1]Carrie Fisher was all over the Women’s March, and Mark Hamill’s response has us in tears[/h]https://www.yahoo.com/news/carrie-fisher-over-women-march-152927509.html

On Saturday, January 21st, millions of concerned citizens gathered in solidarity for the Women’s March on Washington … and New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, London, Oslo, Chicago, Mentone, Alabama, Antartica, and so on and so forth.

At many of these marches, Carrie Fisher’s iconic Princess Leia was an unexpected symbol of resistance to Donald Trump’s proposed policies, with her face adorning posters and t-shirts bearing messages like “A Woman’s Place is in the Resistance.”

With the way celebrities are often dismissed, sometimes we forget that their opinions can still be valid as those of citizens. Sure, we all agree that a point isn't valid because a celebrity supports it. Celebrities for most of the 20th century have endorsed political causes on both sides. Charles Heston was a well known civil rights activist before he became an outspoken 2nd amendment advocate. Marlon Brando was also an outspoken supporter of civil rights and brought much needed attention to the conditions of Native americans in the US. All of their causes are still valid ones to take up.

Speaking as a citizen of the US: This is a cool story.
Speaking as a Sith Lord: Tau Valia Mrias Kian.

The feminist movement hits new lows all the time. Using the image of a dead actress because their own message can't stand on it's own.

That's politics, never let a tragedy go to waste

I'm confused by your implication here.

How does being a civil rights activist conflict with being a Second Amendment advocate?

I was active as a youth and young man in the latter part of the civil rights movement, and I was always a supporter of the individual right interpretation of the Second Amendment.

They don't. I was telling people the things he supported. Are you less confused now?

Another washed up celebrity. Nobody cares.

"Washed up celebrity" in the biggest movie franchise that's ever existed.

Chalk up another one on the big board! You just can't STAND it when people don't genuflect to Big Daddy Trump!

Were the images of Princess Leia of her in her gold bikini?

Great feminine role model.

Actually... go right ahead.

... Isn't that the part when she is enslaved by Jabba the Hutt and then eventually ends up killing her captor and then latter moves on to great things?

If a young woman from your neighborhood was enslaved by a gross man and then kills him while wearing a bikini, would you think she's a terrible role model too?

Focus on what matters Bodhi, the bikini!

Well, she did kill the dude that made her wear that bikini.

He didn't think it out too well. Let's see if he has any idea what he's talking about.

Correct. She is also a murderer of Jabba and of all the innocent beings on Jabba's barge when she helped Luke fire the gun into the deck. She also kept the bikini.

Kinda funny given that so many said of Rey in the second to last movie " Finally, Rey is not some Princess Leia trying to please men, she puts them in their places instead....this is what our little boys and girls need to see".

Then they reinforced that with the claim that Carrie Fisher phoned it in on that movie, the narrative was that progress is surely being made, that Carrie Fisher is part of the old and worse.

How things change

You go right ahead and tell one thing he has done but "Star Wars". He belongs on the "Match Game" with Rosie O'Donnell.

Well, I'm going to add this to the number of times I've stopped taking complaints about a bikini seriously.

I welcome everyone else to do the same.

Let's assume you've had a happy childhood and had access to television: Have you never heard of The Joker?

Mark Hamill and the Joker?

Mark Hamill and the Joker?

Please tell me you watched a Batman cartoon/movie/podcast/comic/special in the last 25 years.

Please.

Bodhi, you made it pretty clear that if a woman is kidnapped in your neighborhood, and she kills her captor wearing a bikini, your gage for measuring whether she is a good role model for women is: Was she wearing a bikini?

There is nowhere for our discussion to go other than the admission that it was a silly thing to bother with.

You would have been better off if you discussed her drug use.

What did Hamill do? We don't need games do we?
