Let us discuss the fine job Michael Hirst and his production team have done on this series so far. With just two more episodes to go in season 4, what will happen with both the great heathen army and back home in Kattegat with Lagertha? Obviously with the heathen army we have some ideas where Hirst will lead us, but back home with Lagertha and Astrid is much more a blank slate to play with. Before you answer my questions have a peak at the next episode which will air here in the states on January 26th.

For myself I have been very impressed that Hirst and company finally 'pulled the trigger' and (spoilers) allowed Ragnar to lay with the serpents. It will probably come as a surprise to many of you as it was to me to learn that the production has already filmed 25 hours of episodes in the time period since Ragnar's death aired in the US. Given the Seer's prediction about the death of Lagertha at the hands of a son of Ragnar and since they are all away in Northumbria spreading the rib cages of their foes? What will become of Lagertha, does she die this season or the next? Or the next? They are already well into filming on season 6 as we digest the end of season 4!

The blood eagle in season 2 was gruesome but the one that awaited King Aella last night was particularly so. And the looks on the face of young Ivar, he truly is as cruel as he is clever. I also like the fact that when they opened Ragnar's crypt, there was no body. Very clever, I wonder what Athelstan would make of that?

I really do believe that this show is only now starting to gather it's steam. I for one and am going to enjoy seeing it. ;)
