Fly Your Freak Flag - Music from the 60s and 70s

Post your favorite songs from the 60s and 70s.

Please no Mamas and Papas. I hate that ****.

You're talking about my era Risky, when I was a pre-teen and into high school and music was an obsession. I had hundreds of 45s and my friends and I listened to them constantly and we waited for the "CHUM Chart" each week, which was the top 20 songs and we'd predict the order, etc. It was a great time, I think, for music.

There are far too many songs for me to choose from, so I'll just enjoy the memories of the ones that are posted here.

BTW, Crimson and Clover was one of my favourites always.

I was a DJ at a college non-commercial FM station during the mid-70's. This thread is right up my alley.

For some unexplainable reason my eyes are getting a little red and I am getting the munchies for some Screaming Yellow Zonkers.
hmmm....

Excellent!

Screaming Yellow Zonkers. I haven't thought about them in a bazillion years.

incredible tone in an era when it was seldom given much consideration

if you are not moving while you listen to this then you are either deaf or dead

In Houston the only place I could find them was TARGET stores.

I miss that buttery butterscotchy unique taste they have. To me they are the 70's in one mouthful.

The memories.....

maybe the most under-rated band ever

best song ever sung by a fellow who started out singing jazz standards and was the session drummer for Jimmy Reed

It's been forever since I've heard Slipping into Darkness. Great song.

Session drummer for Jimmy Reed. It's amazing when look back and see how many of these musicians are interconnected.

I first heard Jimmy Reed on Chatty Hattie's show on WGIV radio, a black station in Charlotte. They played great music you couldn't hear on non-black stations. Good stuff.

Damn I s I still love this song. Totally a tune out and enjoy the tune. The harmonies do something to me. LOL

The live version is a kick.
