anyone else collect records? there's nothing like stumbling onto a great LP somewhere. i used to scour Goodwill and the local record store when i was in college / grad school back in the dark ages. back then, CDs were all the rage, and people were getting rid of their record collections. in the 2000s, though, records are in demand, so finding a random classic is something. check out what i found at my town's fair yesterday :

vinyl - 1 (3).jpg

listened to Big Brother and the Holding Company front to back yesterday night. sounded great; a few scratches, but nothing serious for a record that old and well played. used the rock concert surround effect, and it was awesome.

anyway, i'd love to see your rare gems. i have some pretty interesting ones, including the most counterfeited record of all time (mine is also a counterfeited copy.) i'll post some cool ones as the thread progresses.

I actually own this. Had to get it.

I also have plenty of serious stuff. Old Moody Blues records, Led Zeppelin bootlegs on vinyl....

this was my mom's copy :

Beatles - 1.jpg

she gave it to me when i really got into the Beatles during my senior year in college. it's the American version of "With The Beatles." Capitol (it had first right of refusal for EMI records in the American market) liked to chop up Beatles records in order to make more records and more money out of them until the mid 1960s when the group put a stop to that. still, the American versions of the early albums are good. i have several of them, though i don't have Yesterday and Today. i definitely don't have the butcher cover, but i wouldn't be totally surprised if someone here has a copy of that.
