Best stand-up comedy routine?

For my money the all-time #1 is Abbott & Costello's "Who's on First?".

A close second is George Carlin's "Seven Words You Can't Say on Television".

What say you?

I always enjoyed Bob Newhart's style.

Ooh, yes. I can't pinpoint a specific routine of his, but he always makes me laugh.

Another one whose style I liked in a general sense was Flip Wilson. Not as much the Geraldine stuff, but pretty much everything else he did was great.

Anything by Carlin.

The man could weave a story like no other.

Eddie Murphy "raw". Louis Black. The old comedy acts were pretty lame but appeal to old people I guess.

Of course you know that anything Cosby is now politically incorrect. ;)

i can love the comedy without liking or respecting the man

just as i still like watching tape of OJ when he was in the NFL

what and who they are doesnt take away from what they originally did....

i may detest them both now, but can still appreciate the talent they both once had

I'm with ya. I was just giving you crap.

Best standups working today:

Gilbert Gottfried
Emo Phillips
Brian Reagan
Jim Gaffigan
Louis Black

But I wish Mitch Hedberg was still around....

Jim Jefferies on guns

Pretty much anything by Louis CK.

I cannot pick just one so I'll do a Top 5 in no order:

1. Just about anything by Jimmy Carr (e.g. his jokes on Catholicism -- "Jesus was definitely a fag")
2. Same for Carlin
3. Same for Louis C.K. (I love his "Of course ... but maybe" routine)
4. Lewis Black on iPhones
5. Eddie Murphy's routine about the family BBQ ("Goonie Goo-Goo")

Love Gottfried. Gaffigan is so overrated, IMO. I don't get the fascination.

I tend to agree. As someone who listened to Gaffigan before he really became famous, I enjoyed his comedy but it seems to have gone downhill. I think the reason he is so popular is because he's clean and his comedy is quite relatable to most Americans.

Well, I'm going to talk about comedians I've seen, not of all time.

Probably either Jim Gaffigan or John Oliver. But it's a tough pick because I've also seen hilarious shows by people like Lewis Black, Stephen Wright, and a whole bunch more

In order of how often I watch on youtube over the last years:

1) Carlin
2) Hicks
3) Ron White
4) Robin Williams
5) Kathy Griffin

That was good! Do you listen to O & A, or did you hear about it from somewhere else?

I've listened to Opie & Anthony before, but I didn't find out about this from them.

I was just surfing YouTube for Bill Burr's stand-ups when I stumbled across this.

Ok, it was one of their shows. I don't listen to them live, but listen to past broadcasts all the time on Youtube on my phone while at work. I love how they usually have comedians on their show!
