Netflix Runs Into Trouble

A business, trying to increase profits?!?!?! Those bastards....

Bad idea when you overly cheapen out on customer experience and the quality of what you are selling. Netflix is rapidly becoming a Sears/JCP experience....threadbare and aggravating, at least to me.

Now that they have competition you would think that the experience would get better, but it has over years gotten a lot worse.

Makes no sense to me. I dont think this management knows what they are doing, they are blaming the problem on price increases but I think it is subpar user experience that is the problem.

The backlog is crap, and while yes, there are a lot of "2.99" rentals on Amazon, I'd rather do a 3 dollar 30 day rental then pay 9.99 for direct tv movies no one watched on netflix.

They took away MASH when I was only half done, some warning would have been nice, maybe I would not have gotten into it, or gone faster.

Trapper left, Henry died, Frank left, Radar left and the war ended. And Hawkeye got all serious about how bad war is.

Hope that does it for ya.

Sadly most of the notifications are online on tech blogs and are not available directly on Netflix. HBO Go, which I have because I have the normal HBO channel, warns you when movies are going to be taken off. A leaving soon section would be a great feature for Netflix to have, and would probably increase viewership.

Ya, and why is that? I think I have to say that Netflix is providing a subpar experience. THis would be easy to fix, but they have to want to do it, they have to care about my joy. Too often I feel like these people are giving me the finger.

Netflix original series make it all worth it.

It would be a nice feature, however they seem to be putting all of their money into their original series. They are generally pretty good, however I don't think that model will last them forever.

Mostly not for me, But I do want to see the 4? Gilmore Girls they are doing, this was a thing for me and a daughter, kinda nice show.....

I am a marvel, ain't I....

They beat their earnings prediction. Businesses are there to make money.

By a lot, which makes you wonder (me anyway) if I am getting less than I should because the management is prioritizing short term profits (and the stockholders) over the best interests of the business over the long haul and me.

Did you see what I did there?

There aren't enough of them that are good enough to make it worth it. 4-5x a year, they drop a whole season that's worth watching, that doesn't get me signing on for the rest of the year.

I have Amazon Prime too (cheaper because I'm a student), and it's totally worth it for it's free shipping and other benefits. But it's streaming library is not up to par with Netflix's.

Depends on what you like, prime has a much smaller library but what they have is quality

You ought to try Amazon Prime. $99 a year...great movies...great music...free Amazon 2-day shipping...plus the ability to add Amazon Echo for voice activated music, weather, stock quotes, flash news briefings, auto ordering and lots more.

This may should embarrass me, but - I have Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, and Netflix, as well as DirecTV. I spend WAY too much on all that together, but the older I get, the more I use them.

I like both Netflix and Amazon Prime.

House of Cards is just about worth the Netflix subscription.

I really liked Man in the High Castle and The Americans streaming on Amazon.

Netflix: Phenomenal original content, a lot of television content archives.
Amazon: Small dosage of good original content, some unique TV deals, mostly similar back catalogue as Netflix, capability to be a hub to other premium cable outfit back catalogues for small monthly fee.
Hulu: Crap original content, ass backward content deals (missing seasons, episodes, etc), ads, ads on your much-more-expensive non-ad tier. On the upside: the only outfit with a trove of Criterion Collection titles, can also be a hub to other providers like Amazon is.

There is also Vudu (now owned by WalMart) and a dozen smaller outfits. Not to mention, those of us who have used the Usenet for decades now haven't needed any of these streaming services.

I love the foreign movies and don't mind subtitles at all. You are missing out on some really GREAT flicks passing them by.

Have you watched The Last Kingdom yet? I did yesterday. Season 1. I eagerly await season 2. Vikings, Danes and Saxons Oh My!!

Hey, why embarrassed? We spend our money so that it works for us. Don't blame you! You give me permission to do the same.;)

Nope, not my thing. Just finishing up Stranger Things though, which was excellent.

I am with you....watching all the stuff we have missed over our working lives is one of the great joys of retirement. Too bad Netflix streaming got rid of almost everything older than 20 years. Somebody should figure out a way to set up a site for all the best, a place for movie lovers to go. I feel like Netflix is giving me the Mc'Ds experience, lowest common denominator, but I want and am willing to pay for better.

Hey, I just said about the same thing of barbers a few weeks back.

I want quality, I will pay for quality.

Can I get quality?

Too often:

EDIT: dont give me the Netflix disc business, because then I have to plan way ahead which is not the same experience, it gets very expensive to watch more than 5 or so a week, and they have said in the past that the plan is to shut it down at some point soonish.

Like what? I haven't found much I like besides Vikings.

It has all the HBO shows minus game of thrones. I find the movie selection to be pretty good. Not nearly as many movies but all of them I have pretty much heard of as Netflix has pages and pages on no name movies to sift through.

But it used to be a lot better. THey are driving profits(in part by making their own content) and trying to expand internationally, which degrades the experience for this American User.

Wait... A trump supporter complaining about providing less and value for higher and higher prices... What?
