What Was The Last Movie You Watched and Rate it!

Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

I you liked the original, you will LOVE this flick. It is just as irreverent, just as self indulgent and more hilarious. One change of character of note is "Groot" a sapling.

You may need to see it two or three times, just because there is so much humor going on in the background.

Never mind the plot, it really does need one, but its as logical as any other super hero film

Five stars out of five

Then why did you bring up the concept of superpowers?

The movie is silly- its supposed to be set in a realistic world but the characters are over the top it doesnt know what its supposed to be. Even the car chase scenes arent great, the heists arent even elaborate and they dont show anything other than the getaway part. The romantic stuff is just pure cliche. There's nothing to like about this movie.

although it was highly rated, 93% on rotten tomatoes I must agree with you. One more angry scowl from Ansel Elgort and I would have started killing people. Don't they teach these kids how to act?

As for Jammie Foxx, I get the feeling he's still trying to figure out what he is, but that's pretty much every role he takes.

Atomic Blonde (2017) - IMDb
So I'm supposed to believe that the very hot Charlize Theron is as tough as Jason Bourne while running around in 80's Berlin going up against Soviet spies? Come on. Some of the action scenes are good but in the end its generic and way too long. Stuff just repeats itself over and over. No characterizations so no sympathy for anybody. It's like playing a video game and you can't make any changes to what happens. 5/10

Wind River (2017) - IMDb
A mystery thriller set in an Indian reservation in Wyoming during a blizzard. Lots of snow, snow mobiles and blood. The plot is too straightforward and doesnt really work, but some scenes are still pretty effective. Passable. 6.5/10

One of the best movies of the year for me.. but guess your male bias is showing through :) Charlize is great in the role, just as she is in most of her movies. Ever see Hancock or the latest Mad Max? Kick ass girl in those movies as well.

Justice League. 8/10. Great popcorn movie and action. No major plot holes and I like all the new characters, even though I had not heard of the Cyberdude and only seen Aquaman once long ago. Definitely does not deserve the criticism that it has gotten.. then again neither did Batman vs Superman. If it had not been for the success of Spiderman and Wonder Woman, then one could suspect a conspiracy against DC movies...

Of course I liked Mad Max Fury Road. Why? Because it was a good movie. Atomic Blonde was not. You even gave Justice League an 8, which means only one thing: you have terrible taste in movies. :2razz:

The Discovery 7/10 Interesting premise, hits on some of the more interesting philosophical questions, good cast, but could have done a little more with it.

In Your Eyes 6/10 An early Joss Whedon script, recently-produced. Good performances. A little too long. Ending was not credible.

Ain't Them Bodies Saints 6/10 A by-the-numbers indie flick with no surprises, but well-produced, and everything gets an extra point with Ben Foster in it.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) - IMDb
-Well the first 20 minutes are just pure eye candy. Lovely CGI effects and all, but the story and characters are just flat. The two leads are supposed to be lovers but they look like twins so it gives off a creepy feeling throughout the whole movie. 4/10

Screamers (1995) - IMDb
-Low budget sci-fi thriller based on a Phillip K Dick story about soldiers and killer robots. The effects are really dated and it would have been a better movie if it had a bigger budget. The acting isnt really up to par, but PKD's original source material is just so good that it nearly pulls it off as a cult masterpiece. Nearly. 5/10

American Assassin (2017) - IMDb
A complete joke. It was so ridiculous I couldnt even finish it. 1/10

Suburra (2015) - IMDb
Very much like Gomorrah, except this one deals with the Roman Mafia. Awesome, brutal, nihilistic. Italians sure make a lot of good gangster movies these days. It's a foreign film- so subtitled, of course. It seems they are making this into a TV series, just like Gomorrah too, so I'm gonna queue it up on Netflix. 9/10

The Gauntlet starring Clint Eastwood and Sandra Locke.

It (2017) - IMDb
- Big hit with the critics and a smash, but I felt it was overrated. Too bloody for little kids to watch and too tame for adults. I watched the mini-series with Tim Curry as the clown back in high school so it was sort of predictable. 5/10

American Made (2017) - IMDb
- One of the better Tom Cruise movies, the plot is similar to Johnny Depp's Blow, only this time Cruise plays a pilot involved in the drug war. Not bad though somewhat shallow. 7.5/10

the star
The Star (2017) - IMDb
went with my wife to watch this with a seven year old girl she mentors (former student. single-parent raised by her DAV father who has his own issues). the child attends Christian services and church members look out for her welfare, too
when i saw the 5.9 assessment for IMDB and 44% tomatometer rating (75% audience approval), i tried to back out. however, was immediately reminded by my better-half that i had already agreed to attend "a" movie with them and was stuck
but as is often seen on these boards - i was wrong
would not hesitate to take any kid age 10 or under to see this rendition of the Christ story as told from the animals' well animated position
expect this to become an annual Christmas release, as it is as ageless as its underlying story
when i asked the young girl who went with us, what was her favorite part of the movie, her response was "all of it"
she was engaged for the entire 86 minutes ... which is significant for a seven year old viewer

99% tomatometer rating caused me to belied this was a can't miss movie
it missed
my wife agrees - with emphasis
coming of age movie in the mold of juno, but much less interesting
this was a movie i wanted to like. but can't recommend

The Darkest Hour, the best movie I have seen in a long time, course I mostly only watch Netflix now which is flooded with crap now.

I was reminded in so many places of Trump.

It was spooky.

This is necessary, trust me.

As for me, I saw 21 Jump Street (8/10), really enjoyed it, easily the best comedy to come out so far this year.

Star Wars, The Last Jedi - 7/10.

The Last Jedi.

5/10.

Drawn out, 45 minutes too long, and contrived. At no point did it feel natural. Full of plot screw ups, and, again, the entire thing just felt....forced.w

Best documentary I have seen in many years. Gilbert is my comedy hero, and I got to meet him last Friday! Very nice guy, and the documentary is fascinating, funny, sad and uplifting.

The Post...

It was great. Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks...what more can you ask for.

Daniel Ellsberg, Washington Post, how timely can you get.

Do go see it.

In other words, they should've stopped with Return of the Jedi. But then again, when it comes to things like this, Hollywood doesn't know when to stop. Case in point: The Transformers movies

Surrogates.
Bruce Willis.
You have these robotic type liberal/Demos walking around getting on everyone's nerves.

Yup. They'll keep going till it doesn't make money.

Saddly, they keep making money. Its kinda like presidential candidates. As long as we keep voting for scum, the parties are going to keep giving us scum.

You know, I just realized something...if he were black, he'd look a LOT like Obama.

They keep it all up by dazzling with amazing special effects and pray that moviegoers don't notice that..
1. the plot is stale
2. there is no plot
