To all the McCain supporters;

What specific policies of his do you support and why?

What planks of his platform, specifically, are you for and why?

I like his tax plans.

I like his spending plans.

I like the fact that he is a veteran.

I like the fact that he owes nothing to the extreme right.

I like his temper.

I like the fact that he's pro-life.

I don't like his foreign policy but I don't like our foreign policy for 60 years.

Prove that Obama is the opposite on number 4, number 7, number 8 and number 9.

Furthermore, McCain is not small government or based on making the military strong. McCain's continued support of Iraq wastes military equipment and manpower, substantially weakening our power around the globe. Additionally, he has not called to for generalized federal cuts across the board to make government smaller.

True, but I think its no doubt that Obama is EXTREMELY the opposite of #4 "punish them with a baby" remember? Very extremist, But hey, that only makes Obama liberal, just like the other 40% of the entire country, so...

I don't have to..........All you have to do is listen to his speeches..

He is not only pro abortion but he is pro parital birth abortion........He voted against the ban on PBA..........

Sir, what right do you or anyone have to tell someone what choice to make if they get pregnant?

My parents raised me to respect the individual right to make one's own choices without interference from strangers who have their own political agenda driving them to butt into people's personal lives.

Abortion is a choice that does not need to be shared with anyone just like religion.

President Obama will preserve the individuals right to choose.

You know what is so interesting sir? Many Republicans claim they are for "smaller government" but the truth is that they are only for smaller government in areas they select but when there's an issue they want government to support their viewpoint then the "smaller government" argument is never discussed. Abortion is a perfect example.

Someone said he was pro life, I was just pointing out that he is not.......

We have a forum for abortion....If you want to debate that issue that is the proper format for it.........

I agree there are bad Republicans and Democrats......I am glad I am not a Republican or a Democrat............

Everyone, stop hijacking this thread and speaking about abortion and gay marriage. He asked what people SUPPORTING McCain liked about his policies, he didn't ask you how your parents raised you, or why your NOT support McCain, so can it.

1. His view on the Iraq war, and his criticisms of Rumsfield.
2. Being able to reach across the isle to solve political problems.
3. Has the experience to know how Washington works. (This was a huge problem with Jimmy Carter)
4. Understanding that Iran must not get nuclear weapons.
5. Not being afraid to say he will look to his advisers for advising.

You can't prove an opposite from Obama because he doesn't express his policies when he speaks. I have access to find what are his supposed views on different subjects, but I haven't seen one speech where he, with his own mouth, spoke is actual positions. All I ever hear from him is that his grandmother is a "typical white person" and that small town people are "bitter clinging to guns and religion". Oh, and "CHAAAANGE, We need CHAAAAANGE!!!! Oh yeah, and some HOPE in here too. HOOOOPE and CHAAAAANGE".

I haven't the first clue what he actually believes.

My biggest two are the first two you list. So lets just say I agree for the most part.

Also, we have mods that moderate these forums fairly and frequently. If there is a hijacking of a thread, you might want to let them do their job. I can assure you, they will make that call, not you.

Bit disingenuous this week aren't we? It's not like there aren't literally hundreds of reliable websites like VoteSmart that post his positions or the very least votes on various issues(apparently none of the 3 candidates have returned their questionnaires of positions on specific issues - hmmmmmmmm).

On a 5 second search through Google.

Barack Obama on Civil Liberties - Barack Obama's Positions on Key Civil Liberties Issues

Political positions of Barack Obama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Senators Clinton and Obama's Positions on Casinos | Young Philly Politics

Project Vote Smart - Senator Barack H. Obama Jr. - Voting Record

Barack Obama Health Care Positions - 2008

You know Jallman. I'd expect NP to say something like what you said. But you're what. 30 something? You should know the internet is a very powerful tool. Where if you look for more then 30 seconds instead of parroting what others say, you'll get a few bits of information on anything from the benefits of eating Sushi to the size of a star a few million light years away.

Project Vote Smart - Senator John Sidney McCain III - Issue Positions (Political Courage Test)

Issue Positions of John McCain said:
Senator John Sidney McCain III repeatedly refused to provide any responses to citizens on the issues through the 2008 Political Courage Test when asked to do so by national leaders of the political parties, prominent members of the media, Project Vote Smart President Richard Kimball, and Project Vote Smart staff.

Project Vote Smart - Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton - Issue Positions (Political Courage Test)

Issue Positions of Hillary Clinton said:
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton repeatedly refused to provide any responses to citizens on the issues through the 2008 Political Courage Test when asked to do so by national leaders of the political parties, prominent members of the media, Project Vote Smart President Richard Kimball, and Project Vote Smart staff.

It's one thing to be ignorant simply because you're ignorant. It's another to be ignorant for political purposes.

I guess you completely missed the part where I said:

I know what the sites say about his positions. I simply haven't heard a satisfactory personal statement of those positions from him.

Accuse me of being disingenuous but please don't mind me pointing out how careless you are with details when forming your analysis. ;)

So wait - your entire post was made because you're too lazy to look through websites with video search engines like YouTube, Yahoo and now even Google? Alright then. I guess then you're not being disingenuous. Just a lazy scoop of vanilla. Which isn't better.

I typically don't go looking for Obama's stances on things because I don't intend to vote for him and never have. The crux of my point is that the other candidates, even Ron Paul, got their ideas out there and I knew where they stood. With Obama, who supposedly has the same air time, I've heard nothing but lofty speeches and problems. Sue me for expecting a candidate to engage me with his stances before he tells me how great he can make America. I just think Obama worked backwards here.

So then it's not Obama's fault that there are people who choose to be ignorant for political purposes is it?

Yeah....it's not like Obama has been praised for engaging and putting himself out there on the internet more then any other candidate with the one exception being Paul.

Add to this 5 second search over 900+ videos posted by Obama's team alone ranging everywhere from speeches on Healthcare to speeches on the Iraq war. Jallman it's one thing to claim ignorance because in reality there isn't a source out there and another to claim ignorant because you've heard there aren't any sources. You're trying to claim the first one. But in reality it seems to be more of the second one.

I never claimed there weren't sources. I claimed Obama never really engaged me on that level in his widely televised public appearances whereas the other candidates did. All I really ever heard about the man, even out of his supporters, was "Yay Obama". At least Ron Pauligans were determined to get his views out there.

Jallman.....that's exactly to where you're wrong and I've been pointing it out for several posts now. Obama has been praised for the fact that he's used the internet to "get his views out there" more then any other candidate other then Ron Paul. You however are claiming ignorance when it's obvious that it's for political purposes. You can squirm around it all you want. Just don't try and play the "well he isn't getting his views out there" card when he's praised for doing just that on what is probably the most widely used method of informing oneself after television.

We are simply going to agree to disagree. I will note, as a final thought, that I referred specifically to myself but true to Obamaniac fashion, you turned it into some rabid defense of "your guy". I do not find any substance to Obama and I am perfectly okay with that assessment and sharing it as a personal view on the topic. Sorry that gets you so worked up.

Jallman. I know it's easier to sling mud then it is to be truthful but if you had any clue as to what you were talking about you'd see that the first person to make the thread about Obama when the thread had absolutely NOTHING to do with Obama was Navy F'n Pride. Slander all you want but in a true but very predictable fashion, Navy Pride decided to throw stones when he lives in a glass house. Sorry if the facts get in your way and you'd rather just call me an Obamaniac like it's an insult to support somebody who isn't so senile they get our enemies confused twice in the same campaign election. :2wave: - Forgive me for not falling in love with the old compassionate conservative shtick and hypocrisy of McCain.

And calling John McCain senile is supposed to be taking the high road? You will, of course, excuse me while I choke on the hypocrisy. Heimlich, please. Now.

Senile :

senile - Wiktionary

1. of, or relating to old age
2. exhibiting the deterioration in mind and body often accompanying old age; doddering

Unless of course you're now going to argue that McCain is not an old man or in other words senile man who hasn't been exhibiting signs of deterioration for years now. Grey hairs, wrinkles, liver spots, loss of reaction time etc etc.
