The answer is simple. It's pure jealousy. Jealous of what you might ask? Simple really. In how many states can a person do all these things in the same day :

Surfing :

Mountain Climbing :

See chicks like this on a daily basis :

Obviously in some states you'd be able to do one or two things. Maybe even three but all 5? On the same day? On the same level as California? Highly unlikely. - Thats why people hate Cali. Cause we have it all. Haters.

Keep 'em coming, and help convince me that Cali is okay. Seriously.

I may be moving there soon and while I'm looking forward to the job, I am NOT looking forward to living in/near San Diego. At all. Not even a little bit.

I cannot speak to what kind of city San Diego is.

I was there for 3 months, but I wasn't exactly getting out to see the sights and what not. Although I did get to do quite a bit of hiking :2razz:

The attitude in Texas is that California is a nice place, but wouldn't want to live there. Same goes for me. Its a good place to go on vacation, but, If I were to decide to live there, I'd be near-homeless! I wouldn't be able to do half the stuff you mentioned.

Her father grew up in Newport Beach and heck I love the town:)

It's ok. Cali doesn't need you to be honest.

I didn't ask if it needed me, or if I needed it. (which I don't, of course) I asked you to keep the good propaganda coming so that I may feel better about moving there.

SHEESH!

Nevermind, ya big meanie.

Just keep in mind that going 10 miles will take longer than 10 minutes from now on.

Well, when I lived in DC, it took me an hour to go less than 20 miles. Sometimes longer. I actually had 2 - 3 hour commutes there occasionally (one way) and I only had to drive about 18 miles.

I'm probably gonna be moving to cali in a few years too. :(

San Diego as well. My gf is going for her master's, and she's pretty set on San Diego St... so relocation time. :p

Its funny because my wife still has it in her head she has to leave 45 minutes early to get to work, which is about 15 miles away. It takes like 12 minutes to get there. When we lived in Charleston, we lived 8 miles away and it took about 45 minutes to get there in the morning.

I was just there (orange county/newport beach) at the beginning of December and I always love to go there. We got lots of family out there but it's just way too expensive to live there so for now we only dream of moving out there, but hey- maybe someday. Because if I ever get enough to live out there, for sure I wouldn't hesitate to move there. I guess for now I have to live with going there once a year....

Yeah, California is great if you like plastic people, sirens all hours of the night, high taxes, nanny government in every aspect of your business, pitiful work ethics, and traffic that makes getting to any one of these activities a nightmare.

And for the record, Alaska has all of those activities (yes, even the surfing) except it's a comfortable 45 degrees when doing them instead of scorching hot.

I hate California.

You sir, are a traitor.

How am I a traitor? I wasn't born in this hell-hole. I got transplanted

To your country. Choosing that frozen hellhole called Alaska over the warmth of California. Do you know they're not even real Americans? They used to be Russians.

Well Californians arent real Americans either. They're mexicans.

I don't know if I could handle Cali or Alaska.

I've been to both places, and while Alaska would be more ideal for me, I was there during the summer. The cold I could adapt to, but I don't know about the lack of sunshine.

I have no idea why people "hate" california - It the most perfect state for outdoor adventures, which I love, oceans, deserts, mountains, red wood forests, etc.

I think people think about California, they think big cities.

I think malinu Barbie wannabe's, plastic breasts, meth heads, and stupid valley girls. That and socialist/communist nanny government involved in every aspect of your life.

Well everywhere someone is prone to some negative stereotype. Certainley the coastal people think very little of the people that inhabit the middle of this country.

But I don't disagree with your assesments :2razz:

California brought us Tofu, smoking bans in bars, elected the Govenator. Earthquakes, wildfires, and mudslides also plague this region.

But yes, I am hating. It's a nice place to visit.
