Rexedgar's thread on false advertisements in mobile (?) gaming lead to me searching for a thread to suggest good mobile games.
When you come across one, or play one, let us know. Also, how dependent on in-app purchases is success in the game?
My favorites right now:
Moonshade - It is Eye Of the Beholder/Legend of Grimrock style dungeon crawler. It's not difficult, has a rudimentary color-coded loot system, and the only thing you might feel the need to pay for is to resent the challenge dungeon timers (which usually allow you to run them once per 15 hours or once per 24 hours)... but you can definitely play the game and experience everything without spending money.
Retro Bowl - A really neat little football game that is loosely based around the NFL (all teams are from the expected cities with roughly recognizable color schemes). It uses a retro style pixel graphics. The game is perfectly playable without spending money. It is more dependent on your ability to manage the interface and read defenses than it is pay-to-win. Not having top tier players might mean you don't get as many break away plays, but you can still manage to win until you can draft the big time players. Note: You only play the offensive possessions.. the rest is simulated.
