Fallout 76 has had its worst month since launch and I thought this is probably one of the worst hacks in a multiplayer game ever and I thought it was worth pointing out.

Things started with an update that caused your armor to break, every time you reloaded a weapon.

New Fallout 76 patch creates more problems by breaking legendary armor - Polygon

But then things took a turn for the funny...

What happened a few days later was hackers were able to use cheat scripts to start spawning random **** into the game, including stuff from Fallout 4 and insane weapons, by the way this has been a problem for awhile using a different cheat, duplication, if you search on Ebay, you can actually buy weapons that have probably been spawned or hacked.

Hackers Find Way To Add NPCs To Fallout 76

To now a Catastrophic hack which could very well destroy the game, Bethesda as of this moment haven't taken the PC servers down, but they should immediately.

Basically, building upon the hacks mentioned above, hackers were actually able to turn all fellow players into containers and steal their entire inventories from as far as 200 meters away, including real money items from the in-game store this isn't a joke.

Insanity... And you know what the worst part is?

Bethesda was warned about this:

Players say Fallout 76 will be rife with hacking, but Bethesda disputes it - Polygon

In November last year, they were warned how hackable this game was and given that the situation is so bad, that even paid store items weren't safe, this is the kind of thing that ends in lawsuits, not least of all the possibility of severe criminal penalties for the person who released this hack as Bethesda could go after them for the huge amount of potential monetary damage this could cause to the company... But that doesn't abrogate Bethesdas ineptitude at dealing with issues with this game.

Why did all this happen?

Well, because of the outdated, single player engine that should have never, ever have been used for this purpose and a couple of people owe me apologies because I pointed out last year that the game was going to be a disaster, that the engine likely couldn't hold up in a multiplayer setting and here we are a year later, after patches, one disaster after another, hacks, them adding a paid subscription and breaking their promise not to put non-cosmetic items in the atomic shop and now finally, thousands of players having all of their hard earned gear and items stolen in a millisecond because Bethesda used an engine they never should have.

FO76 was kind of a fun game for a while but stash limits got to be annoying (even after they were significantly improved) and the fact that your CAMP became ever more likely to necessitate relocation as more players came on killed it for me. Well, that and Scorchbeasts that pretty much required a partner or two to take out.

Anyway, I haven't played it in maybe a year.

I loved the original games when they first came out, and was overjoyed to see it return after a long hiatus that most thought was permanent. It was a big leap to a FPS presentation, but I warmed up to FO3 and New Vegas (the franchise peak for me), especially using mods to enhance the game to taste.

However, starting with FO4 they effectively began catering to to console gamers and jettisoned a few features that crossed the line for me. Also, it also somehow had an even more ridiculous intro than FO3.

So I haven't seen much of FO4 and none of FO76, and it's probably going to be that way for a while.

Yeah, I got a lot of fun out of the game, and the multiplayer scortchbeast queen runs were some of the few massive multiplayer experiences I really liked in recent years, and the nuked golf course runs were fun. It felt a lot like the early days of Rift.

Other than the scortchbeast queen, it was possible to min-maxa character that could one or two shot most of the other denizens in Appalachia.

Wow, that's awful! This is why I've always stuck to single-player, since my 1-year foray into WOW years ago.

What a shame, though. I love Fallout, and have played almost every release since the first game. Sad. :(

So apparently recently there was a way that players where able to steal other players items. To replace the items, you can log in as a clone of yourself from before the items where stolen, and hand the items over to yourself. Only in video games...

Soon to be an episode of Rick and Morty.
