Anyone playing FFXIV??

I quit OW, I quit, pretty much everything and have been sucked into the world of Eorzea rather hard. I have a 56 Bard that just broke into HW content, and I have another toon I am working as my caster variant. Iknow I know, you can be everyone on one toon. Meh, not enough bag space for all that :p
 
i've played it on and off (mostly off) since 2.0 launch, but i honestly just can't stay interested in it. everything is super slow-paced and you have to trudge through so much out-dated, useless content for a story that is only interesting some of the time.

i was recently playing trying to get to level cap before the next expansion, but quit around level 62 or so, I think. i'm back on Guild Wars 2 now.

I'm utterly in love with it. Got my Bard to 59 atm, and I'm still in the midst of HW content. Just got my first gathering to 50, so now today I think I'll get botany up. I find the story compelling, and the "slow" pace I find very nice compared to the more twitchy play of more modern games. I guess to each their own of course.
 
I am downloading it now. Dunno if I will like it, but for 20 bucks, worth a try.

Dang...I've been a server owner too long... :(

If you need pointers, tips or have questions Redress, ask away, I'm 62 now and in the most current XPAC information. Also I'm on Goblin server, and my handle is Vellia Viccario if you wanna to toss a friend request. I'm on most nights.

Just getting my feet wet right now. Took a summoner to level 6 so far, doing quests and exploring. Beautiful world, major props to Square for making a gorgeous game.

It is indeed, remember you don't need to have alts, one toon can do EVERYTHING. Arcanist are ACES cause at 30 you can take Summoner (the actual class) and Scholar. Both pet classes, one is DPS the other Heals. Best part is that if you level one, you level both. totes worth it for leveling cause you can near insta queue with the easy bake heals and (not knocking, it just is compared to other healers I've played in MMO's) and DPS to level.

Concentrate on the Main Story Quest and any Blue Quests as you go, save the side quests for the most part for your other jobs when you get them. Oh and if you are into crafting, just go get them all now... or at least at 30 when you have your mount, which has saddle bags, which you can have fight with you when you're out solo.

I leveled my archer-Bard first, also have White mage, Paladin and Machanist with that I'm side leveling. Didn't quite realize how much the game is geared to "play all on one" and I do have a few alts, but they are more for "when I want too.."

Oh yeah, if you don't like your toons look, when you hit 50 you get a potion that change sex, racce, everything, one time deal.

I haven't played since 10...lol... I was deep into them before that, though. Does it bear any resemblance to the old ones?

It is an MMO. It's free to play to 35, and the game tries damn hard to make you "feel like" you are the most important player and the rest of the people are.. there to support YOU. Great story, great system, so much to do!

I come back to Ark every now and then to see what all has changed, but I never have anyone to play with, so it doesn't last long. Just finished checking out some of the new maps and stuff a few months ago.

If you're not familiar with the history of the game, it makes it all the more ridiculous. They actually made FFXIV twice. They lost over $10 million on the initial version alone, not counting what they had to pour in to remaking the entire game.

There are similar themes and you'll recognize some character things and the classes, but there is zero similarity in terms of how the game works. It's basically World of Warcraft, but everything takes longer.

Yes, I know. That does nothing to make the game world look less good now. I am well aware of the history of the game.

You misunderstood me. I'm actually saying it's really impressive that they made 2.0 so much better given how much time and money they'd already lost on 1.0. Probably about the best work SquareEnix has done since the early 2000s. My problems with FFXIV are all gameplay related.

I am in the current xpax material now, and just had the wall fight, for anyone familiar with it. FFXIV sure likes to rip at the heartstrings.
 
ACtually, I thought I was on Stormblood content, I just got there last night, holy hells the plot twists and story tear at my heartstrings!
