I can not be more hyped for this game. CD Projekt Red is probably the best studio out there for putting out truly QUALITY content in this day and age. I absolutely love the core setting and source material. The game play looks amazing and they've done an oustanding job capturing the city, the style, and the atmosphere. Can not wait.

DAAAMMMNNN! I've only watch 13 minutes of that vid so far and it looks pretty awesome! Imagine playing that in VR! :D

Looks like Shadowrun meets GTA. If the storyline is Shadowrun quality it could be a serious winner.

So fun fact...

Shadowrun and Cyberpunk were basically competing contemporaries in the table top roleplaying game world. Both started with very similar premises, born off the works of William Gibson, of a dystopian future world of corporations and high tech. The big diverging difference between the two was that Cyberpunk tried to stay grounded in essentially a "realistic" future, while Shadowrun chose to mix in fantasy elements. However, the atmosphere and general feel of both was incredibly similar.

Shadowrun minus magic meets GTA is basically dead on for what this game is likely to be. Given the immense quality of the Witcher series, I have a lot of confidence it's going to be quality.

Now this looks like a game I can get into, but I hope they have a good save system...I have a feeling I'll be making a lot of stupid, bad choices. LOL!!

Looks okay. I just hope it doesnt end up as vaporware like Star Citizen...

Hell yeah. I'm super hyped for it. Can't wait. I know we're gonna still have to wait at least a year, but I'm fine with it. The more time they get to prefect the game, the better.

I too, am eager for this game to hit the PC.

I'm putting money on paid beta release.

I know this is kind of a necro job but, for any that care, this damned game STILL isn't out and is now delayed until December. Theoretically that will be December of 2020.

This is why I hate pre-purchasing games but I seem to get sucked in every time.

Is anyone else playing this?

I only have a couple of hours in because real life tends to take priority over gaming but I've been through two missions so far and it's not half bad.

I'll hit some of the positives first.
1. The game looks pretty doggone good! Characters and environment both look good and the city really feels alive.
2. Combat with ranged weapons has a good feel to it. There are some things I think I need to get used to as I don't play many FPS games but, on the whole, it's getting better the more I play instead of getting worse.
3. The story is still getting fleshed out for me but it seems to have a definite direction and some rather compelling characters.

Now for some negatives.
1. My companion seems to really enjoy blocking my FOV in combat. If your FO4 or FONV companions were annoying in how much they liked standing in front of you then you'll find this aspect completely maddening. I'm working through it and maybe it won't be so bad with a different play style but it's just frustrating half the time
2. Driving sucks. Maybe it's just me because I haven't played much GTA but the car is barely controllable at any significant speed.
3. There aren't many hints when it comes to upgrading cyberware or participating in a "brain dance". I'm kind of stuck on my current mission because I can't figure out how to focus on the thing I'm supposed to be focusing on.
4. Inventory isn't ALL of your inventory. I just discovered that I have a "backpack" to go along with my "inventory" and that's where all my loot has been going. Early combat sure would have been easier if I knew where to find some of those new weapons and attire!

Bottom line is that I think this game is going to get better as I get the hang of things a bit more. There seem to be a LOT of options for how to go through missions so the prospects for a significantly different playthrough experience for different character classes appears to be on the horizon.

Well, I did not know that...

Yeah, I am enjoying it alot. I like how the cutscenes flow into the action, without really taking you out of things. Fighting from a car is a blast! I have not looked into the cyberware aspect at all yet except for the tutorial. I did see there is crafting, and I think that plays into it? Game is really linear so far, but interesting.

Story is great, compelling and I like the characters. Immersion and worldbuilding are great as well.

My biggest complaints are the UI and some of the mechanics, like driving or the hacking you can do. IDK if I missing something, but I feel like I barely know half of what I can do but I don't know when I was supposed to figure out the rest.

It's... Alright. Story's well-done, and I love the aesthetic, but the gameplay its self is rather "janky." Even at lowest settings, my Alienware runs the game kind of slow.

The combat is noticeably a bit lackluster, particularly with regards to AI. Enemies will literally just stand out in the open and let you empty mags into them. The only reason they're a challenge at all is because they're absolute bullet sponges, and aiming is a giant pain. The companion AI is also freaking awful. All they do is run in front of you and block your shots while you're trying to aim. They seem to be firing paintballs from their weapons as well, for all the impact seem to they have on the outcome of engagements.

Like I said, the story's cool, but I feel like there are some pretty seriously missed opportunities there. The origin options have basically no real relevance whatsoever. All they really amount to are extended 15 minute cut scenes.

It would have been interesting to see a totally free-form version of this game, where you can truly do whatever you want, without being rail-roaded by the plot.

That's pretty much where I am with it. For example, I know that I should have the ability to disassemble loot I gathered but I don't know HOW to do that. It was also a bit of a process to figure out how the first cyberware install was supposed to progress. I was sitting there with a screen full of options that didn't work and no obvious way to back out and start over. Discovering my backpack last night was definitely a plus. I'd simply assumed that dropped loot just disappeared or something.

I have noticed that as well; the game really is not very good at explaining itself.

I frequently find myself having to pause the game, pick up my smart phone, and google questions like "How do I put my weapon away?" or "How do I exit out of mode X?"

It also took me like a freaking hour to beat the first boss battle in the game, because - apparently - you don't even have to fully lower the healthbar of the mech you fight. You've just got to blow its arms off. This fact was mentioned literally no where in the actual game that I am aware of. I found it on an IGN walkthrough.

Wow..

Wow..

The best line:

However, later on Thursday evening, Sony said it is “aware some users are experiencing issues” accessing the refund form. If you’re seeing issues, you may want to try again later.

Yup, if you try and get a refund for a buggy game, you might "experience issues"...

Interesting though that the actual unprecedented nature of Sony doing this for such a high profile game and issues with the refund system could be an indication of the sheer amount of requests they’ve received and this sends a massive warning shot to any other publisher or developer who sought to be as deceptive as CDPR was in the lead up to this game and their review strategy which according to multiple youtubers I follow stated categorically it was the most restrictive NDA they had ever signed for a review copy.

Im also worried about the human cost this decision may wrought, CDPR has lost a ton of stock value, when The markets open in Europe this morning it will drop through the floor based on this and shareholders will shit a brick.

CDPR basically said they were sending their team home for the holidays and they’d fix the base console versions in January and February...

I mean they could renege on that to bring them back to crunch fix it over Christmas, I think its that serious, no major title, ever, has been given this kind of treatment and the cost in sales over the holidays...

And assuming they could even fix it over 2 months.

I dunno this is...

Massive... And we’re only just getting started, it could force Microsofts hand as well.

I personally am enjoying it on my Series X, but there are quite a few issues and in my mind, it is categorically not what was promised in many ways, but story wise and character wise it’s doing the job.

So for the game itself.

bugs and glitches are a given that need to be fixed, so that's that.

I think it's largely good, I Mean just walking or driving around Night City is a joy (cars are a bit janky) but it is a visual spectacle that is just...

Even after 30-40 hours I still sometimes look around and am just in awe of the place, it's really well fleshed out in the sense that, you look around and within the context of its own world, things make sense, there's no wasted space in the sense that, you can buy why that thing is there, that building or piece of equipment or parking lot... Everything fits.

Once you start digging deeper though, there is a lot of immersion breaking pieces, especially Night Cities inhabitants, they are remarkably simple and I get why given the state the game launched in, comparing to GTA V might be unfair but just simple things like, if you block traffic, GTA V AI will go around it and even avoid oncoming traffic, Cyberpunk AI just sits there and piles up behind with no honking, no reaction and that extends to getting in front of cars, climbing on cars, people have noted there is no dynamic reaction to basically anything.

I digress though, that's just some immersion stuff that may be fleshed out later.

The game needs a lot of work, alot of promised features aren't there.

The following systems need overhauls to varying degrees:

Levelling
Perks
Loot (looter shooter system... wtf?)
Wanted system (completely ****ed obviously, cops just spawn in).
Crafting system.

Just to name a few, also needs quite a few quality of life improvements, simple things like Junking Items is desperately needed given how much shit you loot constantly.

Also needs a transmog system for items, I know it's first person but even so, be cool if even on the motorbike you could look like you actually wanted to because right now my ultra netrunner hacker (level 20 Intelligence) looks like a homeless person, just again immersion breaking.

Another thing is... Choice, I don't think that can actually be fixed but really, it is quite a bit more restrictive in terms of dialogue choice and generally getting to be who you want to be in the game, I Mean I actually wrote out character profiles for the three life paths cause I wanted to do all three and as it turns out, I started with Corpo and that was going to be my evil playthrough and... You can't really be as evil as I thought, I mean contrast it with Mass Effect as an example and straight out of the gate Shepard can just be a total, arrogant bastard immediately to everyone.

With V... Most of the time IMO just don;t get much leeway and apparently the three life paths after the initial opening aren't different at all minus the odd dialogue choice which is supremely disappointing.

SO... With all that out the way, the story has been largely solid, people have said that they found sidequests as amazing as Red Baron from Witcher 3, maybe it's my stone cold 2020 heart but I haven't really found that yet, I've enjoyed some of the tiddies I've come across along the way... That's fun.

Still have much to explore, done a metric ton of gigs and side jobs, haven't finished the main story yet so we'll see.

Anyway, love to discuss if anyone has comments on my observations, am I right, am I wrong?

Ended up getting a refund as they opened it up to unconditional refunds a few days ago.

But if voting with my dollar now that the full scale of CDPRs deception has come to light.

Maybe I’ll get it down the road with all the DLC once it’s fixed and the next gen patch is there.

I'm less than 10 hours in as RL doesn't afford me long sessions. The story just got REALLY weird but oddly engaging.

I still haven't figured out how to disassemble anything but I have figured out how to sell stuff. In the near future I hope to figure out what there is to buy.

As far as bugs go, I haven't really run into much but I'm playing on a PC so that may be the difference. The comment about the depth of the denizens of Night City is well noted. There are thousands upon thousands of people wandering the streets so it's not all that surprising that the best you get out of them is a "yeah".

@Lutherf To disassemble, click on item in inventory(the backpack part) and hit "Z" I think it is. Warning, the new patch introduced a bug(LoLz) in crafting.
