The last time I tried VR gaming was several years ago. It quickly made me nauseous due to the lag. Well, we got a proper gaming PC a few weeks ago and this week we got an Oculus Rift and I am having more fun gaming than since I was a kid.

I didn’t realize it would be that emersive. Scary movies and scary games never scare me but scary games in VR are another story. And some of the games are so exerting I break a sweat. Or I can just sit on a boat and fish in my living room. I never understood the appeal of fishing sims until trying it in VR.

The next 5-10 years will be very interesting to see how they advance.

Which games are your favorite right now?

Skyrim VR and RoboRecall are excellent. Skyrim is absolutely amazing in VR (especially once you mod it.)

I haven't done it yet, but my oldest bought that system and had Yes Ma'am try it out. I have to type this fast so she can't see it...

My son put a shark attack sim in that came with the system and Yes Ma'am had no idea what was going to happen. She peed your pants (well, more of a leak), and she screamed like a little girl. We all laughed our butts off, especially Yes Ma'am. Her response was - "I want to do that again, turn it back on, do it again."

I have Skyrim loaded up but have only played the opening, and yes it looks awesome. But I am putting it on hold since I am familiar with it and trying some games I haven’t played before. I have been playing Paranormal Activity which is a scary game in which you are stuck in a haunted house looking for clues and trying to stay alive. It really feels like walking through a haunted house.

Another game I have is Duck Season and it is a combination of nostalgia, surrealness, and creepiness. It is a play off the old Nintendo Duck Hunt game with a bunch of triply twists thrown in.

Beat Saber combines music with light sabers and obstacles flying at you. Lots of fun and a bit of exercise too.

Tilt Brush lets you create 3D art using all kinds of Tripp’s effects. Very relaxing and my new favorite thing to do when enjoying Mary Jane. ;)

I love that adrenaline rush you get from being scared. The problem for me is things like horror movies, roller coasters and even sky diving don’t do it for me anymore. But with the right VR experience I can still get it.

If you like shooting games I would definitely recommend Roborecall, imagine you are Will Smith at the end of iRobot and you pretty much got the premise.

The best thing about Skyrim is the amount of mods, there is enough mods out to completely change the game to make it unrecognizable. I played the game quite a bit when it first came out so I nodded the hell out of it and started a new play though and it is different enough that it feels like a different game even though the base main story is the same. They have full modded expansions and quests.

My 90 year old mother-in-law is living at my house. Want a true fright? Come visit me. She doesn't close the bathroom door, and she walks through the house looking for the clothes she wants to put on, before she puts anything on. That, my friend, will scare the BahJesus out of anyone.

I suppose there is such a thing as too real. :)

Wow I remember seeing VR for the first time seems like it was 1992 and it had such a high expectation that there are movies made about it. But the graphics and processing we're so poor nobody liked it. And us it quickly became a flavor of the month I'm glad to see it's come back and do its own.

There is a lot of potential for it not just in gaming and entertainment but education and so forth.

The potential is there but theres just not any content yet which might kill it before it really takes off. Ready player one hopefully generated some interest but they really need to make a AAA game for VR

I remember movies like lawnmower man back when vr first came out.

I think the peripherals were far too expensive in those days

MY PC can handle it, I just haven't gotten aroudn to doing it. Thanks for makin me Jelly :p

I got one of the nice new Samsung Odyssey VR headsets for Christmas. Works great, but haven't found any must play games for me. I think my biggest issue right now is that the market is flooded with cut rate games so it is hard to find one worth playing.
