Bethesda is livestreaming tease NEW FALLOUT GAME IMMINENT!

The cover of Country Roads is freakin' sweet.

So I hear that the new game will be a survival game like Minecraft/Ark/Subnautica etc. That could be really cool, assuming the manage to figure out how to build a narrative into the game.

What I would not want is a survival game that can only be played multiplayer...

Multiple things of note. The date is 2102, which makes it before most of the other fallout games(Fallout 4 was in 2287, Fallout 3 2277, Fallout 1 2161, Fallout 2 2241). The Pipboy is similar in design to the Pipboy from Fallout 1 and 2. Vault 76 is a control vault, one where Vault-tech did not actively experiment. It is likely in Virginia or West Virginia.

Best tho is the following award that is seen: "Excellence in Bravery: In recognition of the canned mystery meat experiment. You volunteered to eat when no one else would. We are proud of you and glad you are not dead."

Weird, that can't be a real release date. No way a major Fallout game made it so close to release without leaks..

But the settlement build, good idea, but really ****ing annoying and a chore.

That is what Sim Settlements is for.

Before that (and in the places the newest version does not work), I take a minimalist approach. A long strip of the covered floors, 24 beds, enough water and food for 24 people, and largely leave it to fend for itself. On average I think I dedicate maybe 30 minutes to setting up each settlement, and then only return to assign new people to places and to siphon off caps.

I used to spend a lot of hours building my settlements. But the more I played, the less I started to care when I realized the settlers did not care. Build them a mansion with the nicest beds available, build them a roof and floor with no walls and throw down a sleeping bag. They literally did not care which one they had. Just so they had a place to sleep out of the rain, food, water, and a job.

Now, for most of my settlements I use Sim Settlements: Rise of the Commonwealth to do that all for me.

Well, the first leaks for Fallout 76 (by name) appeared on 4Chan in December.

So the announcements have been made!

The game will be out November 14th. It will be, from the sound of things, online cooperative but also playable solo. Instead of being an standard MMO it will have servers limited to dozens of players instead of hundreds or thousands. The emphasis will be on rebuilding the world and, apparently, blowing it up again because players will have access to nukes.

It may be interesting to play Fallout with a companion that DOESN'T immediately jump into your line of fire when engaging enemies.

Also announced, ElderScrolls Blades for all platforms including mobile...for free.

New "Epic Franchise" Starfield.

....

And a teaser for Elder Scrolls VI.

I don't know the first damn thing about this except to say that Bethesda Maryland is my home town.
Of course, I left in 1978, and last time I was there was 1992 and I actually got LOST...in MY home town, very embarrassing!

A basic pre-requisite: nuking people and their settlements needs to be a rare event.

I'm kind of just hoping that the internet doesn't ruin the internet. But because they can't *not* ruin it, I'm hopeful, but still skeptical.

I'm kind of optimistic. I've been playing ElderScrolls Online since it came out and while not Skyrim, it's still a fun game with TONS to do. If this falls into a comparable mold it could be a lot of fun.

So it will be PvP and co-op, aimed primarily at console gamers. My interest in PvP is zero. Aimed at console gamers means the chat in game will make WoW chat look mature and mild. Odds of me buying the game are very low. Mobile Elder Scrolls game? No thank you. At least the scifi game might be interesting.

More and more, I am of the opinion that there is Paradox Games, and a bunch of lesser companies. When the announcement of a Fallout and Elder Scrolls game leaves me uninterested, something is just not right.

I don't know if PvP and Co-op is completely accurate either. From what Howard said, the games are going to be limited to around a dozen players on a single server. That means to me that you should be able to play the game damned near however you want to. My guess is that it will be more like Ark but without tribes taking over entire servers.

Well, when you have lived most of your li being attacked by mutants and raiders, living in the most primitive conditions and eating and drinking radioactive food, living in a place with security, plentiful safe food to eat and clean water to drink, and an actual roof over your head, then having any of those things is pretty wonderful.

So not much of an immersion break really. Living in a drainage culvert prior, even the most primitive settlement with a roof, food and water is luxurious.
