Now...before you start listing your favorite role playing games...I have a caveat to my statement. I want a game more like ARMA life. Less like final fantasy. Something basic. Simple. Cops and robbers and oil men and whatever. And I k ow I know. There will be questions about limitations...but I play ark on PS4. And I have played GTA. It really wouldn’t take that much.

PC entry fee is too high. I can’t wait a year or 2 and get one that is reasonable on price and plays all the same games. If I could...I would. But I gotta be a grown up and buy crap like spark plugs and wedding rings and dog food and trips. Sigh. Lol.

That’s just a myth. You can build a cheap PC for a similar price to a console or you can spend a little more and get one that will last the life of 3 consoles.

That’s a myth. Lightweight PCs that are around $250-$300 won’t play nearly as well as anything more expensive. They will also require one extra resource that is always forgotten by PC gamers...time. I don’t want to spend time tweaking and tinkering and adjusting. I just don’t want to do that. I hate it. My time is valuable. Plus. No PC is going to last more than 7-10 years anyway. And that is about the life of a console anyway. The PC has never been good at “plug and play” simplicity like consoles. If they were...I would have one. Here are my requirements...hdmi and works with a TV/controller maybe...and plays anything from Skyrim to ARMA 3 life multiplayer at a decent pace. Plus total war (Rome 2?). If you can do that for $300...I’d be impressed. All in $300.

Consoles arent $300 though, they are $500 when new plus an extra $50 to play online so you are really talking about $550.

PS4/XBone are not exactly designed for role playing games... need of a keyboard is kinda critical.

Would actually be cheaper if it was not for the #!%!#% insane prices on ram and graphics cards at the moment :( . I mean, 82 dollars for 8 GB of ram.. that was under 50 bucks last year. And 180 for a RX 570..... wtf?! Relatively crappy card for that price imo. 1060 aint much difference in price and better.. but still imo way too expensive!! :)

The cheapest 1060 was the 3gb version at $205 and the 570 and 1060 3gb version are pretty comparable the cheapest 6gb version started at $250 so its a pretty big jump in price for a budget PC. I mean unless I was forced to go with a budget PC I wouldnt go with either of them, something like a 1070ti on a sale would be a great card that would last many years

Yea but the 1060 is 15% faster than the 570.. but guess it is just semantics these days :). To be fair.. a 1050ti would be enough for 1080 game play at high settings.

$300 2 years in. And I get the same games. And they play the same regaddlsss. Like I said. There isn’t PC that can be had at the price of a PS4. Every time this debate comes up...the PC users like to adjust the prices. The fact is...you can’t get one at the same price.

Not really. If GTA can be run on a console controller...one could easily design an arma life type RPG for the console.

Pft... GTA is hardly RPG in my eyes.. more like a different version of a first person shooter.

How far into Ark are you? I just started recently, but then put in down to finish off a minecraft project... thinking about diving back into it though.

Funny I paid $500 for my ps4 and if you want an Xbox one x or a ps4 pro it's $500. I didn't adjust any thing you made an unrealistic demand because you already know that a PC can be had for a console price.

And 2 years in, You're really going to wait 2 years to play the latest games? Youre bending over backwards here to justify why you waste money on consoles.

I sunk my teeth into assassins creed origins which now features a leveling system and full RPG system, I'd say give it a go, it's actually a lot of fun so far, I'm surprised and it's beautiful to behold.

I haven't mastered the combat yet, and the menu system I swear is built to trick you into going into the microtransaction store every damn time you open it (The reason I say that is because it has a cursor system which very, very few menus on console games do, when you go into the menu I immediately start pushing the D-Pad which most menus use and if you right click on the D-Pad, boom straight into the microtransaction store, smart little buggers).

Same year as release? Because that’s a rookie mistake. ;)

+ 1 for switch to PC Gaming Master Race

Divinity 2 Original Sin is an AMAZING RPG, so challenging.
