Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Being Remade in Unreal Engine 4

Hell yes! :D

It's unofficial, however, which is both good and bad. It's good, because they'll give it away for free when it's done, and they don't have to approve new content (according to the devs, they will be adding several new worlds, enemies, and missions). It's bad because the project might simply fizzle out before getting anywhere, and Disney might very well slap them with a cease and desist order.

I guess we'll see which way it goes.

Recently Disney allowed an update to KOTOR II allowing users to utilize the "Steam Workshop" (basically they gave the source code to users to mod the game.) So if Disney was okay with mods for one game, I don't see why that wouldn't be the case for KOTOR I

As long as it's 'fan fiction' and doesn't make any money, then I can't see how Disney has too much of a case to shut it down. Especially because nothing in the old republic conflicts with current canon.

However, remakes have really really awful completion rates. It took years for stuff like TSLRCM to come out for Kotor 2, and that was just unlocking content that bioware already created. As much as I would love for this to become a thing I'm not too hopeful..

Here's hoping that Disney still lets Bioware/Obsidian keep using the IP to put out Old Republic stuff (that isn't MMORPGs)

Eh, it's merely fan diversion.
