.....Is the bees knees.

Seriously, that is all. For reel. This game is awesome. Buy it, play it, love it.

You have no idea how much joy I had when I saw that Baulder's Gate was on Steam. That game is the tits.

My very first video game ever! I played it and BG2 literally for years, dozens and dozens of games, and I still rank it in my top 5 games of all time!

I stopped playing top-down games when Diablo II got old.

If a game can't give me a 3D view, I won't touch it.

Go for the eyes, boo! The eyes!!!!!

i liked bg and bg2, very few games back then had a world where every choice affected everything.the series ended up influencing later games,as well as the foundation for the dragon age series, which used the same system of choice and consequence throughout the game.

I remember the early game being unbelievably frustrating because you are this level one dude with no health and crap armor, immediately exiting the first town and findingsome wolves come who can one-shot you.

It was Bioware's first game, right? I may be thinking of something else.

Sadly, I was raised as a poor, deprived Macintosh child, so my experience with most mainstream PC gaming only really started around 2005 or so.

I played the PS2 version and its sequel. Loved it.

I'm just about to finish my first run through BG:Enhanced Edition (Steam)....

Apart from the frustrating character AI - especially when you're trying to move around in tunnels - it's quite good. Though, I think I forgot to turn in a bunch of the early quests. Oh well.

Next: Black Pits, then BGII. Then maybe I'll try Icewind Dale out.

Also running through much older games: Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge and Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant.

Ancient turn-based RPGs.

Sadly, going back and playing games like these shows just how much the average substantive quality of games has fallen off. So many very pretty games that have no depth these days...
