In other threads I have described my experiences upgrading 3 devices...desktop, laptop and tablet. I have run into some problems with some of the devices, but all of them have been upgraded.

I recommend you stay away from the Windows Update thing...that's where you "reserve" your update and use Windows Update to run the upgrade. Instead, I recommend you download the appropriate "MediaCreationTool" (32bit or 64bit...whichever your current OS is) and run it. You'll then be given the choice to install the upgrade, save an ISO of the upgrade to a thumb drive or burn the ISO to a DVD. Upgrading is the simplest option and it'll take you through the steps and you'll be given the choice to keep all your stuff or do a clean install.

If you run into problems, don't panic...don't despair...post your problem here. I probably already dealt with it on one of my machines or, if I haven't, I can find a solution for you.

You WILL get upgraded to Win10 if you want to.

I'm glad Mr. Wonderful is here posting advice for Windows 10 users.

It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.

I'm just glad PeteEU is around to give us that advice. He's helped me a lot.

All kidding aside, PetEU is probably the most knowledgeable individual here, concerning PC's, but even I have stumped him. That was the time, I was trying to install Windows 8 on an ASUS P5Q motherboard and the BIOS only recognized Windows XP. It was only when I was able to find the last update available for that board to Windows 7 that I was able to finally install Windows 8. If something works in Windows 7, it will work in Windows 8 and hopefully 10 as well. If ASUS had provided drivers continually, without trying to force its customers to invest in a new motherboard, installing Windows 8 would have been a snap. That's probably why so many folks refused to install Windows 8 and have opted to hang on to Windows 7.
